The Boards - Rehearsal - Thursday, 03/11

Mar 11, 2010 16:01

There'd been an extended discussion this morning regarding continual muffin supplies, the needs of actors, the needs of directors, and what constituted a responsible transfer of furry animals. When the young man had left, though, Geoffrey was pleased to say that he had a significant number of muffins to distribute and something of a standing ( Read more... )

Which has muffins and coffee and muffins and tea and muffins and croissants...

Someone had been a little apologetic.

Kate was randomly hungry when she got to the rehearsal, so she was glad to have things to eat while she hung out off stage during all scenes that weren't the second.

Robin was in his usual bouncy mood, but also singing. Singing a somewhat faster, more punkish, and eccentric version of The Ants Go Marching, than some might be familiar with.

"The ants go marching five by five, the little one stops for stayin' alive, stayin' alive!"

This was a lot more food than normal, and Jack hardly minded. He took two muffins -- one banana, one chocolate chip -- and sat with a copy of the script at hand.

It was really rather obvious that Kate was connecting with her part a lot better than the first time they'd rehearsed this act. Still a little unsure, but at least now she really felt she'd get there, eventually.

Her Anne was coming along as a desperate, tired woman, too weak to resist Richard despite putting up one last fight right before accepting his ring.

Emotions for the scene were being pulled from all over Kate's own life in the past few months, yeah.

Sophie entered, cursing, and having far too much fun.

Out, devil! I remember them too well:
Thou slewest my husband Henry in the Tower,
And Edward, my poor son, at Tewksbury.

Sam was in a much better place than he'd been the first time they went through this act. Sure, it helped to have run through the whole thing, to get a feeling of where everyone else was in comparison to Richard, but one of the key qualities Sam had to bring out in Richard was his confidence, and that had been difficult when he hadn't had much confidence in himself.

Now, it felt a lot easier to work through these scenes, to argue and connive, and he hoped that made it easier for the others to play against him too. It was strange how being happy made it easier to pretend to be ruthless, but Sam wasn't going to question it.

Tony was trying to assemble a humane mousetrap he'd ordered off Amazon. It could be going better.
