Like the chatty, social creatures that you are.

Karla popped up next to Dinah, looking both eager and apprehensive. "Dinah? Could I ask you for a favor? Would you spar with me?"

"Sure," Dinah said, slightly surprised. "No problem at all. Anything up?" she asked, pulling on her practice gloves.

"Well, I've never sparred with anyone before," Karla said, looking awkward. "And I really should before I stop being lucky and my name comes up. I mean, I fought some as a little kid, but it's been six, seven years? The last time I got hit was...right before I came here." An innocuous enough statement to anyone not in he know. "I need to know I can take a punch without freaking out."

And that might let Dinah know how much what had happened--or nearly happened--concerned Karla.

Dinah paused a second, then darted her a considering glance. This might be a little tricky, but Karla was right. She at least needed to find out if she could deal. "Just let me know if it starts getting to you, okay? I've done this with Claire before, but she's fine with being hit." And got over it within minutes. "C'mon. Let's hit the mats."

[start new thread at the mats?]

"Thanks," Karla said gratefully, heading to the mats. "It'll be really quick, so you probably won't miss much," she said, flashing a grin back towards Dinah.

[Sorry! At another BBQ today. Weekends are rough]

Jonothon was there, hanging around the edges, just contenting himself to people-watch until the fighting got underway.

There were worse ways to spend a Sunday night, he supposed.

The good thing about hanging around the edges was that one was easier to spot by other people hanging around the edges. It also made it easier boy Beka to move over, giving him a small smile.

"I didn't realize you were here too." Which was natural as last time she'd been watching her toes, trying to push down the nausea that came with introductions (or any kind of public speech).

Jono had been trying his damnedest not to be noticed the last time, as well. Really, it made perfect sense, in that light.

//It's only my second night,// he noted, nodding toward her. //... Which, I suppose, is a bit of a given, isn't it, gel? How're yer pigeons doing?//

"They're greedy mumpers," she said with a grin. It didn't sound like she minded. "You're not yet being followed by ducks?"

//The ducks are easily distracted,// Jono replied, almost actually 'smiling,' himself. //Little bit of bread if they decide to look my way, and then I can run like hell.//

So manly. Truly.

"Wait 'til they band together with the pigeons," she warned. "Once they take a liking to yah, they'll find you anywhere." She knew, she'd only to open her window in the Lower City and she'd have pigeons flying in.

//Well, if they decide they like me, at least being mobbed by them won't be so bad. Right?// Maybe? He hoped? Please?

"You'll live," she decided, hiding a smile. "Mayhap you can learn to fight them off here."

Jonothon found himself chuckling softly at that, shaking his head.

//If I can't learn how to fend off the ducks, gel, then I'm absolutely doomed.//

"I'm not arguing," she said as she glanced towards the mat where people were sparring.

"Are you training to be a guard too?" It was becoming a valid question considering that most people she talked to (except her roommate) seem to have similar goals.
