A visit to Perkolator

A very battered man comes into the shop. He's clearly very angry about something. His shirt used to be white, but it's smeared with soot and brick dust. There is a fragment of red-glazed tile in his long light-brown hair. He strides purposefully towards the counter, and then suddenly stops, takes a tiny book out of his pocket, and reads briefly

Caroline walks into Perkolator at Miss Parkers suggestion, looking forward to getting some cigarettes.
After she gets them she fumbles in her hand bag trying to find a lighter, not coming up with one immediately she sits down at a table and continues to fish.
Ah huh!
She holds one up triumphantly, noticing the man she is apparently sitting with, and his disheveled appearance.
Uh, are you okay there?

*Paige mouth sorry and holds up the flask of wine, then mouths "Later"*

Dorms? So you're a student in that college? Do you need any books?

*drinks more coffe*

Ah... how's the coffee?

*Manny peers into his empty cup.*

It's ... *twitch* ... quite strong.

I work in a bookshop, we've got books. Lots of books. Come and see.

After selling the cigarettes, Mrs. Smith gestures over to a group of five tables and tells Caro, "Use the smoking section if you gotta puff inside. We have customers that are really sensitive to smoke or odors."
