Max had shown up just a bit early to pick up Rachel. Which had just meant he'd had to wait that much longer. Not that he minded. Some things were worth the wait, and the truth was that the whole thing was familiar. And it was a game he enjoyed

Hey, there was a lot of prep time that went into getting ready for the beach, especially for someone like Rachel, who had such fair skin that if she didn't take precautions, she'd end up with a migraine from too much sun. So that explained the wide-brimmed hat; the cover-up over her fifties style swimsuit was just plain old decency expected out of a lady. She felt it was particularly important after seeing what modern swimsuits consisted of...or didn't consist of. Jeez oh man, Rachel's underwear was more complicated and modest than some of those suits.

And, really, Rachel's reaction to the view probably did say a lot about her.

"Hey," she said with a grin, glancing back at Max over her shoulder, "this isn't half bad!"

It would look great in TechniColor!

"Well, that's reassuring," Max grinned. He'd taken the time to check her out at the apartment, and then again while he lagged behind, but that didn't stop him from doing it again.

She looked pretty good in the suit, after all. Heck, she looked good period.

"I don't know what I would have done if you'd hated it."

"Hopefully, you'd have made up for it by at least making good conversation," Rachel said with a grin. "It is nice. Not as nice as some of the beaches in Johannesburg, but, still, I won't complain, that's for sure."

Well, no, she probably would, given even the smallest thing to focus on, but shh.

"Johannesburg." Max cocked his head thoughtfully. "Yet another on the long list of places I've never visited..." He shot Rachel a grin. "Guess I don't know what I'm missing, huh?"
