The piles of paperwork on Roy's desk had slunk away, leaving a rather bored Sheriff behind. Not that paperwork had a whole lot of entertainment value. There was a file on his desk which he'd read already several times and now it was pushed to the aside as he seemed satisfied that he'd gotten everything from it which he needed to get ( Read more... )

With a morning of plenty of chamomile, water, and vitamin C to combat her jet lag, Daisy managed to get as early a start on her day as she had wanted, so that she could get everything taken care of and, hopefully, in a perfect world, working again fairly shortly. Benton had been right about the island; it was extremely easy to find her way around and honing in on the Trooper Station had been a cinch.

She gave it a bit of a look before coming in, tilting her head at the man on the desk before greeting him. As much as she hated to interrupt anyone, she hoped that Gameboy wasn't indicative of what she could expect, because, really, she could put up with that at London and at least have things to do in her evenings.

"Hullo; you wouldn't happen to be the sheriff, would you?"

"Hang on, just a..." He made a face at the screen and put the Gameboy aside. "Never mind. And you are correct." He tilted his head slightly, looking her up and down. "Detective Daisy Day?"

Daisy has a second's thought spared for what he might have screw up on in the game, but then old habits took over and she responded almost automatically to the Sheriff's question. "Detective Constable, actually," she corrected, and then hid her wince quite well. "Although I suppose that could be ripe for a change with the transfer and everything. But, yes." She nodded, shoulders straightening professionally. "Daisy Day, reporting for duty, sir."

She supposed, anyway. It was a bit of a quick jump, but she could go with the flow of any current.

His lips curved into a smirk as he leaned back in his chair, considering her. The difference with Ray was huge and she responded more like he would have expected one of his men back home to behave than he'd come to expect of the police officers here.

"It seems that so far we've kept a fairly lax policy when it comes to titles, Detective Constable," he explained. "Our forces here are a mix of several worlds and so I've let people keep the rank they had. It seems like the lesser headache even if it would make my superior officers back home cringe."

He nodded at her and motioned a hand towards one of the seats in front of his desk. "At ease."
