Apu hadn't bothered to tell him they weren't part of a magic trick.

Turtle had mostly come into the store to make sure that all the labels from yesterday were removed (or most of them, anyway, although, really, Jamie wouldn't have an excuse to have missed some, what with the duplication and everything), but seeing Sora while she was at it was an added bonus.
