The Beach, Saturday Morning

Aug 02, 2008 15:11

Mohinder had been exploring ever since he got up, and that was a really long time ago. He'd gotten all the way to the beach from - well that probably didn't matter, because he wasn't lost at all. There had been a kangeroo, though it had startled away when he'd tried to take a picture and now there was sand and water all the way over there ( Read more... )

The Goddess had wandered down this way, still clutching tightly to Proudfoot. When she caught sight of the, the, the huge, the huge whatever it was of water - moving water! - she just stood still and stared.

"Watch out!" she yelled to the boy as the water rushed in and grabbed at him. "It's coming!"

"It's alright," Mohinder turned round, nodding his head really hard so the girl could see how sure of that he was as the tide washed around his ankles. "It's just water. Water can't hurt you. And it's not cold."

"But there is so much of it!" The Goddess said, looking nervous. "And it moves!"

She did cautiously move a little closer, though.

"But most of it's over there," Mohinder swung his arm backwards. "The water's only little here."

"Come on," he said, trotting forwards, ready to tug her toward the surf. "I'll show you."

Juli had managed to find cereal for breakfast--healthy stuff because that was important--and had wandered out of the apartment after making very sure that her note to Mother and Father was readable.

"Look at the water!" she crowed delightedly.

"It goes on for. Ever," Mohinder shouted and waved. As far as he could see it did.

"I think so." Mohinder screwed his eyes up looking at the horizon, and stood on his toes. "Can you see anything?"

Abby (just Abby, she hated when people mentioned her middle name, it was so clunky and it came from her grandmother and her grandmother smelled quite frankly!) had made her way away from that ridiculous boy who'd been in her room and it's a good thing she was here because her father would have had him hung by his thumbs... made her way to the beach. Because it was a nice day and she wanted to swim.

When she saw others, she gave them a cheerful wave.

"Hello," Mohinder called out to the new person. He'd picked up a stick and was swirling patterns just out of reach of the waves.

"Good day," she said politely before looking to see what he was doing. It looked interesting.

"It's a map," Mohinder told her. It even looked a little like it, if seen from about four feet high and ignoring the squiggles where he'd got distracted. "Here's my apartment," he pointed. "And the park," Again. "And the sea." He frowned. "The sea is hard to draw."
