Jack slipped in, quietly, for some food. It's possible that Cass would have to come right up to him for him to notice.

Distracted Cassandra may have been, but distracted enough to miss someone entering the cafe? No, not today. She looked up and gave Jack a nod.

Ordinarily, Jack would kick himself for missing the attention of someone he was friends with, especially if it were a Cassandra-shaped person. Today? Not so much. He's busy missing a little green felt guy.
