The Arms Hotel Lobby, Thursday [4/10]

Apr 10, 2008 05:24

Mary pretended to fall asleep on the couch last night because she figured George Michael would freak out over sharing a bed. She woke up early with a sore back and her regular female body. She really should have been relieved, but instead there were all these questions in her mind about what would have happened to her relationship if the change had ( Read more... )

Mary gave her a genuine smile. "Thanks for the offer. And, um, if you're ever in need of any entertainment, I'm on a first name basis with most of the performers from Big Thunder From Down Under. They're always happy to do a private show for me."

"Of what type of entertainment are you speaking?" she asked, not wanting to miss a chance to support the arts.

Mary had a huge grin on her face. "Male strippers," she said. "They're really, really good. They have a huge following in Las Vegas and beyond."

Joanna's brought her hand up to her chest, looking appalled. "How dare you even suggest such a thing," she said as she turned to move towards the restaurant. She paused and looked back towards Mary, asking, "Do they travel?"

"They will if I ask them too," said Mary, smirking.

"We'll chat," she replied, and went to go test Gunther's culinary limits.

Sean was on his way through the lobby when he saw Mary and the look on her face. He couldn't not check on her, so he beelined over. "Does somebody need a hug today?"

"I wouldn't say no to that," said Mary, stepping out from behind the front desk. "I'm wondering if I'm doing the right thing by marrying George Michael."

"Oh, honey." Sean reached out and hugged Mary. "What brought that on? You two seemed so happy together."

"Fandom happened," said Mary. "I woke up yesterday morning as a guy. George Michael wouldn't even come near me. We went to Miss York's gallery opening together only after he cooked up this story about me being his cousin 'Mark' because he didn't want to be engaged to a guy. I'm starting to wonder if he would really stick by me if something happened again."

"So you're the one he looked like he was avoiding. You were hot, by the way." He shook his head. "I don't know what to tell you, since I've never been in your position. But I'm thinking you can't judge the situation entirely on what happened. After all, waking up with someone of the same gender when you went to sleep with someone of the opposite gender? Was probably pretty freaky for him. I know it would be for me, if I were straight."

Mary laughed. "Thanks! I'd like to think that I was an okay looking guy. But, um, I've been in that situation. I went clubbing once with a group of girlfriends and woke up in bed with one of them the next morning. I freaked out, but it didn't end our friendship."

"Keep in mind he's a teenager, though. Speaking as someone who was there just a couple years ago, they're not always the most logical of creatures." Sean gave her a gentle smile. "They tend to act first, not think at all. And not that you asked for my two cents, but I think you should at least talk to him about it first. Knee-jerk reactions aren't always a reliable indicator of how someone would act in the long-term."

"He is pretty young," admitted Mary. "I'd like to think that it's not an issue, but I guess I forgot that we probably look at those issues in different ways."

"Looking at issues in different ways isn't necessarily a bad thing, though," Sean said. "It just means you two could most likely do with a good sit-down to talk about things."
