It's just past sunset, and the roof of the apartment building is set up for a party. With the intermittent storms all day, Bridge thought it best to set up tarps over the food table, even if it hadn't actually rained at all ( Read more... )

Get your moon-related food here! Aforementioned moon pies, White Castle burgers (it makes sense, see, because certain evil villains had a *castle* on the moon, and... yeah.) and pizza, and also anything else moddable that you can vaguely connect to the moon.

Bridge is here, plate loaded with pizza and, of course, moon pie. A balanced dinner, to be sure.

River didn't partucularly hate the moon, this moon or any other. She did have issues with inhabitants on moons who kidnapped her and her brother though. But really, she was mostly here because it was a party, Bridge had invited her and there might be dancing.

An important tradition on Hate the Moon Day. We shoot at the moon because... it's where the bad guys used to live. Yep. Cheese, because that whole "moon is made of cheese" thing, and also because it's nice and biodegradable.

Jen spent a lot of time picking out what looked like the most aerodynamic, well-balanced piece of cheese available, and went around testing all the slingshots for optimal pull.

She then took her cheese and her slingshot, took very, very careful aim at the moon, pulled back, and let fly . . .

Only to watch the piece of cheese sort of flop out of the slingshot pocket and plummet straight down over the edge of the roof.

"This equipment is obviously faulty."

The corners of Jen's mouth quirked upward slightly as she glanced over at him. "I say this, of course, as someone who's never shot cheese from a slingshot before."

Because what's a party without music? Again, with the moddable anything-connected-to-the-moon-even-really-vaguely. Also it's entirely possible a few not strictly moon-related songs somehow snuck on to the playlist...

River didn't feel the need to shoot at the moon. Dancing however was another matter. Perhaps dancing with the moon counted?

Hate the Moon Day! Because PR villains used to live on the moon, so out of that rose some traditions of people expressing their general dissatisfaction with the occupants of the moon. There's no evil there anymore, of course (though there are, apparently, horses), but there's all these traditions so why the hell not?

Or the shorter explanation is, of course, that multiplez and I are crazy people.
