Anakin being completely self-absorbed as usual had missed his housemates behaving oddly because he was a little too wrapped up in not being able to get up to Connecticut until later today.
Stupid flight schedules. Why couldn't they work hourly like they did back home?
And yes, he was vain enough not to want to freeze all the way up to New Haven and back by taking the speeder.
So he was sulking in J, GOB, eating a giant cinnamon bun and drinking a large cup of coffee, completely oblivious to the changes around him.
