The park, Friday afternoon

Mar 16, 2007 14:06

Aeryn's been very careful this week to check on the ships in the junkyard, making sure everything is in working condition even after everything's dried out. She'd really rather not chance something like that, and it gives her something to do.

She sets off from the junkyard into the park, brushing off her hands and intending to run some quick errands in town before heading back to the dorms. She's probably not paying as much attention to her surroundings as she should be.

From behind Aeryn came a voice. "Officer Sun. A pleasure to see you again."

She stops walking, going completely still and for a moment she's wondering if she really heard that.

Slowly, she turns, taking in the sight of the person she hates most standing right in front of her. "You're dead," she says, knowing that's pretty obviously not true.

"Perhaps I am. And perhaps I'm a ghost. Or even a... figment of your imagination," Scorpius suggested.

"You're not," she says. She's suddenly not a hundred percent sure he didn't do something, considering John has no memory of the actual chipping, but she hasn't shown a single sign of it. She can be confident in that.

"No, I'm not," Scorpius said, letting a small chuckle escape. "But I'm not dead either. I'm as alive as I ever was, Officer Sun."

"I saw your transport explode," Aeryn says, making sure he keeps a good distance away. She's sure she could take him, but she's also not stupid enough to get close.

"It exploded, I washed up on shore, now I've finally made my way back," Scorpius said. "But enough about me. How's Crichton?"

It would be wrong to shoot him here. It would.

Well, not wrong, but it would be bad. She just needs to keep repeating that to herself and keep her pulse pistol anywhere but in her hand.

"You put a chip in his head," she says slowly, not exactly answering the question.

"Ah, so you did figure that out. Much sooner than your counterparts from my reality did," Scorpius said. "Has he given the neural clone a bizarre name?"

What? He was honestly curious about that.

She's not wanting to give anything away. Anything. Any information he has about John is too much for her comfort. "Tell me why I shouldn't kill you now," she tells him, thinking the fact that she's giving him a chance is too much mercy.

"If you did that, you would never find out why I'm here or what I've done already since I arrived on the island. You'll never know what benefit I could provide for poor Crichton's mind. But the primary reason would be because you couldn't even if you wanted to." Scorpius smirked maliciously as he continued, "And I'm sure you do."

Aeryn's not to sure about not being able to kill him. Pulling her pulse pistol from the holster on her thigh, she holds it on him. "Fine. Why are you here and how can you help?"

Scorpius mockingly raised his arms in surrender. "All will be revealed in time, Officer Sun."

It's been a frelling cycle and she can't trust him at all. Even if she listened, she can't be sure what he's not saying. And if she lets him live, he's got another chance to go after John, and she doesn't want to know what else he might do then.

Those thoughts take an instant to process, and as soon as that instant's over, she's firing her weapon directly into his chest.

The pulse blasts seemed to have no affect on Scorpius at all. "In my line of work, I've learned that body armor can be a very useful thing," Scorpius said, casually walking towards Aeryn.

Frelling pulse weapons don't frelling work on anything in this frelling town. She's investing in bullets from now on.

She tries again anyway, in a couple of various spots, backing off a few steps as she does.

"What do you intend to accomplish by shooting me, Aeryn?" Scorpius asked, continuing to stalk towards her.

She's just wasting charge and she's not running from him, so she stands her ground. "Don't call me that," she snaps. "I'd like to see you dead."

"Yes, you have made that clear," Scorpius said, continuing his advance until he was standing directly in front of her.

And at this distance, she's close enough to crack the pulse pistol against his head.

Scorpius's head turned with the blow, but it didn't appear to do any real damage to him. He smirked once again as something caught his eye. "As pleasant as this reunion was, Aeryn, I'm afraid it has come to an end."

The sound of the pulse pistol firing had been enough to draw the attention of the nearest patrol. They charged through the brushes, surrounding the two people there. Sadly enough, all that they had seen was the girl attacking the man so most of the blasters were aimed at her.

"Freeze!" the Lieutenant in charge shouted. "Put down your weapon."

Of course.

Keeping her eyes on Scorpius rather than the troopers, Aeryn turns the gun in her hand so it isn't pointed at anyone, and slowly bends to put it down on the ground, hoping she'll get it back. She straightens again, knowing nothing she can say will make them take him into custody instead of her.

"Apprehend her," the lieutenant barked his order when it looked like Aeryn wasn't going to put up a fight. "Sir? Are you alright?" he then phrased his question to Scorpius.

As he did so, one of the troopers quickly picked up the pulse pistol as two others moved towards Aeryn to take her into custody.

"I'll be fine," Scorpius responded. "And I appreciate your quick response. Your mayor will receive a kind word about you from me."

The lieutenant nodded, keeping one eye on the prisoner in case she decided to cause a fuss. "Thank you, sir. We will require you to come with us to the station so we can get your side of events."

"Of course," Scorpius said, suppressing a smirk. "That won't be a problem at all."

Aeryn shoots one last glare at Scorpius before they start leading her off to the station. So this hadn't worked out exactly as she'd hoped. Scorpius isn't dead, John's still out there with her being unable to do anything to help due to being arrested.

She's not happy with this outcome.
