The Perk, Friday Late Afternoon/Evening

Jan 19, 2007 15:24

After checking on Cally to make sure she was okay, Piper headed to The Perk to meet with Phoebe. Since she was in town, she might as well attempt to talk to her sister again. The silent treatment was starting to get old.

She ordered some coffee, found a table, and waited.

And as luck would have it, Bel happened to wander into the Perk that afternoon. "Piper?" he said, blinking at her in shock. "What are you doing here?"

"Oh, hey Bel," Piper said, waving. "Veronica and I stopped by to check on Cally. We heard what happened and wanted to make sure she was okay."

"Ah," Bel said, moving over to Piper's table. "I heard you and Veronica were attacked, too. Everything all right?"

"Yeah, except I couldn't vanquish it," Piper said quietly.

Phoebe came in, looking for her sister. Things were strained and she didn't like that. She was still upset and hurt by what her sister had done, but she also needed to see with her own eyes that she was okay after the demon attack.

She played with a strand of hair nervously as she looked around. Finlly spotting Piper, she made her way to the table.

"Hey."

"Hi Pheebs," Piper greeted. "Thanks for stopping by. Wasn't sure you would."

Phoebe sat down and spent a few moments looking her big sister over carefully. Then she let out a breath of relief.

"You're okay. I mean, Cole told me you were but..." She let the words die out.

"I'm fine," Piper said. "I just wish I could have vanquished it. I think we're gonna need the Power of Three for that, though."

After Wyatt had run in fear from the be-glittered fifth floor common room, he'd grab Chris to spare him the trauma as well (for now), and they'd headed to the Perk for coffee. "Dude, I don't know why you have your panties in wad," Wyatt was saying, looking over his shoulder at his brother as he walked through the door. "It's not like you asked me before you asked her out."

Then he saw Piper and came to a sudden abrupt stop.

"Whatever, dude," Chris retorted. "I shouldn't have had to ask your permission. Besides, she said yes."

He almost ran into his brother when he stopped abruptly. "What?"

Piper looked up when she heard voices. She smiled at the two boys, wondering if they were related. They sure bickered as if they were.

"It's Mom!" Wyatt whispered to Chris, near flailing.

Honor and Hamish, with Nimitz hurrying quickly behind, entered The Perk in the evening. While the earl looked less than amused with the wintry weather outside, Nimitz and Honor seemed relatively unaffected.

"It's practically indecent," he sighed.

Honor blinked. "What is?"

"That you're not freezing your ass off like I am." He shook his head, unfastening his coat in the warmth of the coffeeshop. "Now, lead the way to the coffee, Your Grace."

"Of course, M'Lord."

They ordered their drinks -- Honor, a hot chocolate, Hamish, a coffee -- and then settled in to enjoy them before heading back out into the cold.

"All right, I'll bite," Hamish said after a long period of silence between the two. "This is your town. What's for dinner?"

"You're the guest; you get to choose."

What is it about these conversations, White Haven wondered. Two incredibly competent field commanders, and neither one of them felt assertive enough to decide dinner? He shook his head inwardly. Maybe it's a relief to have someone else make the decisions for a change. That was his story, at least; he expected similar of Honor.

"Okay, Admiral Harrington. What are my options?"
