Mauvaise Chance Apartments Lobby, Sunday Morning through Afternoon

Aug 27, 2006 21:26

Finally deciding that as the owner it might behoove him to actually run his business occasionally, Harper sat in the lobby with his feet propped up on the counter, waiting for any tentants who might wander by.

Aly poked her head into the lobby and smiled when she saw Harper. "Are you Seamus Z. Harper?"

Harper looked up from his flexi and grinned. "I would be Seamus Zelazny Harper."

"Then I would be happy to meet you," Aly replied with a wink. "I'm Aly. I need to let a room?"

"Then you've come to the right place," Harper said, sorting through the key cabinet. "We have a couple of apartments free, you have any preferences or special needs?"

After taking a bit of time to get his thoughts together not to mention dry out Wilson decided that sitting like a bump on the bench wasn't going to improve the situation.

Checking to make sure he at least had his wallet on him, Wilson plotted out a course of action and stood up to go put that plan into action. He knew in a handwavey sorta way that this was not going to be a brief visit and since the bookstore was long gone and Tommy Gavin might or might not be living in the room above the FTEC that left him in need of finding somewhere to live.

Shoes still squelching, Wilson's purposeful meanderings brought him to the Mauvise Chance apartments. He remembered them from before and by remember, he did not remember them being overrun by zombies or otherwise stranger than anywhere else in Fandom.

Squelch, squelch, squelch towards the front desk he went. Oh yeah, Metatron was going to hear about this.

"Good...uh, morning?"

Harper smiled at the squelching man. "Morning. It raining out."

"Only in the duck pond." Wilson replied with wry acceptance of his damp apperance.

"Do you have any open units?"

"Bummer," Harper said, sympathetically. "My first day here I ended up in a snowbank right before an invasion of monsters."

"As a matter of fact, we do. Several actually, were you looking for anything in particular?"

Maybe it was the lavender suit she hasn't worn since The Day; maybe it was the shaggy mane of dark auburn hair hanging in her face; or maybe even the utterly explainable trip through space and time, but as she stood before the doors to the Mauvaise Chance apartments, Laura Roslin felt somewhat out sorts. It was different here. The sun was shining, the grass was green, and there were actual buildings -- not tent cities. For the first time in months, she could even feel her toes wriggling in her high-heeled pumps.

Reaching for the door, she paused and withdrew her hand. She had yet to speak to anyone, had not yet heard anyone around her speaking and chatting. Would they even speak the same language?

She sighed. Same language or no, Laura, you're still going to need a place to sleep. Straightening, she pulled open the door and strode into the lobby with her lone suitcase.

"Good morning," Harper chirped. "Welcome to the Mauvise Chase Apartments."

Laura forced what Adama had dubbed a "presidential smile." "Good morning," she replied. "I'd like to speak to someone about renting an apartment."

"Well, you're talking to the right person, Seamus Zelazny Harper, at your service."

Jesse had a newspaper in hand and a bemused look on his face.

"Y'all got apartments open here?"

"That we do," Harper replied.

"Looks like I'll be needing a place to stay for a while, but I don't have anything for paperwork, 'cept this." Jesse pulled out his wallet and a wad of cash that was his bankroll from his last stolen car.

Harper looked at the wad and raised an eyebrow. "You'll find that Fandom has a flexible view of paperwork. We have one one-bedroom and one two-bedroom apartments free."
