I'm not afraid of rereading my fic, but I usually only do it once I've had some distance from it and can see what I need to improve.
I...don't think I could really read it like I read what isn't mine. Maybe it's cause my memory's too good?

I obsessively reread my own fic. It's not for enjoyment (at least not the same way I enjoy other peoples fic) I just get hung up on it for about a week after I first write it. It runs through my head all the time. I dunno. And it helps me to write the next bit, like I'm psyching myself up.

I do have fun going back and reading my old stuff though, because it's almost as if someone else wrote it.

I do the same thing, reading it a lot right after it's finished and up. Then I can ignore it for a while.

LOL I feel you, OP. I don't hate reading my own fic, but sometimes it's hard to silence my inner critic and I tend to be harder on myself than other writers. Still, when it comes to finding fic for one of my current OTPs, I'm pretty much it, so it's not like I have a choice lol.

I like reading my own writing...especially fanfic, because that's half the point of writing it in the first place :P And in some fandoms, you take what you can get. Judging by the comments here, you're far from alone!

Yeah. I always want things to be a certain way, but once things get there I can enjoy my fic just as if it were anyone else's.

I'd love to know what some of your pairings are, OP!
And I like reading some of my stuff, too. Its nothing to be embarrassed about.

I'm in a couple of small fandoms, and I like polyfic and threesomes. Quite often my stuff is all that's out there for a particular trio. I will, if I'm craving that particular triad, read my own fic, but it's never really satisfying.

Honestly, I kind of wish I could reread my own fic without squick. But I can't. I'm always like D:

Although I'm constantly revising my scripts. Probably because there's more pressure there.

LOL, are you me? I could have made this secret. The N!S, the S, and the S!B could have been about me.

I can do one better, though: I read my own fic, but I (for the moment) don't let anyone else read it. I am literally writing for myself.

Don't worry about whether the OP is you or not, the big question is: are you me? Because that is EXACTLY what I do! The whole writing-but-not-letting-anyone-else-see thing, I mean.

I like re-reading my own fic. My workplace tends to be slow with lots of down time and both lj and ff.net are blocked but Dreamwidth's not, so when I'm bored I just go onto my Dreamwidth and read my own fic. It passes the time, and puts me in the mood to write more :P

Holy shit are you me? I am ALWAYS reading my own fic just to have something to read @_@

I LOVE reading my own fic! Gives me a confidence boost when I'm feeling not-so-good, or think I can't possibly tackle THAT prompt or THAT plot bunny.

I re-read my fics a lot too. Coz at least that way I know what I'm getting. :O)
