Every time someone references this, I can't help thinking of the scene in Mirror, Mirror by Gregory Maguire where, for absolutely no reason whatsoever and totally irrelivant to the plot, the book ambles off into a scene in which Ranuccio (Snow White's woodsman person character) goes walking in the woods, like y'do when you're a woodsman, and randomly comes across a unicorn, strips naked, and has an orgasm when it touches him. That is like seriously the entire purpose of the scene. I think it might be vaguely supposed to give Ranuccio some motivation for saving Snow White chick because ~*~*~she is liek ttly the unicorn and he is sexually attracted to her or some shit~*~*~ but there are easier ways to go about establishing that. Ways that don't include random interjections of borderline sparkly furry porn.
It's a really pretty scene, absolutely stunningly well-written and probably one of my favourite bits in all Maguire's books that I've read, but at the same time it always sort of makes me go "...whut."
LOL AT YOUR ICON - although I have no idea what that means xD
What details? Like Bela not making sense half the time? Jo not having any personality? Gen being a crappy actress (I don't doubt she is a wonderful person but I just don't like to see her act)
