The first one is gorgeous, especially this:

Jim likes to think Bones pretends to be gruffer than he is, the same way Jim pretends to be bolder than he is. The agitation and bravado are present, in both cases, but only as parts of the whole. Silent nights like this one, Jim likes to think they and the ship have their defences down and are safe.

And Nyota is so strong in that second one. *shivers*
