Outside the dorms, Sunday evening

Isabel had promised Greg she'd spend the day resting. So she did just that. After an afternoon of napping, and then changing the bandages on her neck, she brought her book and blanket to the grass outside the dorms to enjoy the last bit of the day.

Parker wandered by, and saw Isabel talking to Bel and playing with a ... fox? She blinked. "Okay, it's magic, right? I hope? Because otherwise, those things have germs, Isabel."

//I wasn't the one out fighting mummies.// Jack tilted his ears at Parker, then closed his eyes as she patted him, yipping twice in agreement.

"Night Parker," Isabel replied. "Come on Jack."

And they headed back to room.

"Hey, Parker," Bel said. "Have fun playing with the mummy?"

"Christ no. I ache. Kawalsky landed on me, and he's not exactly spun glass." Parker stretched a little, making a face, then noted Bel's expression. "What?"

"I could've helped," he said.

[mparkerceo]

Parker blinked at him. "Yeah, you could've." She frowned. "No one told you about it?" She paused, thinking back. "Whoops. No one did, did they."

He shook his head. "You know I'm damn good in a fight. I get that I'm not trusted but...." He shrugged helplessly. "I'd like to prove myself one day."

"It wasn't a trust issue. At least, not for me." Parker shrugged. "Hell, you know I don't trust you perfectly, but for something like this? We just could've given you a partner, and had them keep an eye on you. We certainly could've used the help." She shook her head. "I was too out of it to suggest anyone, though."

"I get that," Bel said, nodding. "But the next time you gotta go up against something big and scary, let me know, okay? I want to help."

"So noted." Parker rubbed her eyes. "I need to make a new email template: IN CASE OF MONSTER. 'Tell Jack so he doesn't freak, tell Zero so she doesn't kill you, tell Bel so he helps.'" She shook her head. "Otherwise, in the middle of the mess, I'm going to forget *someone*."

"I'll hold you to that," Bel said solemnly, but he smiled.

Parker grinned. "Thanks again for the help you did give me, on Thursday. If I'd been thinking clearly, I would've suggested they call you." She sighed. "Flaming mummies. *That* would've cut down on some aches."

Bel grinned and conjured a small fireball. "At your service," he said.

Parker looked at the fireball, holding out her hand to warm it, and grinned. "And me without a cigarette."

"I could give you one, but you quit, didn't you?" Bel said. "Or did you start again?"
