Fourth Floor Common Room, Tuesday Morning

Jan 05, 2016 13:27

Cassandra clomped into the common room still wearing her full armor: she had just done her rounds of the island, and then engaged in some sparring at the salle. Soon, she would retreat to her room to take off the armor and perhaps begin taking her daily notes, but for the moment, she felt she had earned a moment to sit ( Read more... )

As she had no classes today, Lucille was exploring the dorms, peeking into the other common rooms and making sure she found her way around. On the fourth floor she noticed a girl, in full armour like some Joan of Arc, reading a book. That was strange, but in a less off-putting way than many of the oddities here, and at least the girl shared her interest in literature.

"Excuse me?" she said, waiting in the doorway. "May I ask what you are reading?"

Cassandra's face flushed almost immediately. "Ah, nothing," she said quickly, putting the book face-down on the coffee table.

That was surely going to convince Lucille, Cass.

Lucille knew what that meant. She had done it herself many times, and she could have told Cassandra it never worked.

Of course it made her curious. What kind of books were embarrassing to read in this place?

She smiled at Cassandra, entering the common room, and said: "My name is Lucille Sharpe. I'm a new students, and we haven't met, I think."

She was fairly sure she would have noticed a girl in armour.

It was a young adult romance novel about a futuristic knightess and her love interest, who inexplicably, due to some illness, could not wear shirts. The cover was rather indicative of this.

But it was face-down on the table, so.

"I am Cassandra Pentaghast," Cassandra said, the flush ebbing away from her features. "And no, I do not believe I have had the pleasure. Welcome to the island; I hope it has not inconvenienced you so far."

Being up and about for a few hours now, Laura had taken the time to run a few laps around the island, as well as scouting the place for optimal places to do... things. Hide. Stalk people. Vantage points. Coffee shops? That kind of thing.

Entering the common room to find someone in full plate... well, there were weirder things.

"Good morning", Laura said, nodding as she moved to serve herself some water. She didn't seem to notice the book, or mind it at all.

Cassandra... would tuck it behind her against the sofa regardless. Cough. "Good morning," she echoed, tilting her head.

New student? Apparently so.

Laura blinked at the book hiding. "I can leave if you prefer to read alone."

Like, totally offering that, knight-lady.

"Don't be ridiculous," Cassandra muttered, "This is a common room. It is open to all."

Cassandra was just terribly stupid.

Dipper wandered into the common room looking bleary-eyed and exhausted. Under his breath he was muttering "Caffeine" over and over again like it was some kind of mantra. He opened the fridge and pulled out a Pitt Cola and popped it open and then proceeded to gulp it down. He had already pulled out another can without finishing the first and shut the fridge behind him.

"Morning," he muttered sleepily to everyone in the room.

"Morning," Cassandra greeted in turn, dryly. "Are you ill?"

"Tired," he replied as he finished the Pitt cola and set the can down with a rattle. "I've been rewatching the new Space Battles movie over and over again so I can catch every nuance."

"Space Battles," Cassandra echoed. "What is that tale? I have seen some volumes of it in the library."
