The wall between the girls' and boys' bathrooms- Sunday all day

Jan 04, 2015 11:31

When Gwen got here a semester ago, she quickly found out how weird the place was... and then kept finding out how much weirder the place was than she thought. So she decided to do the new kids a solid, and that was why there was a huge sheet of butcher block paper taped up on the wall between the girls' and boys' bathrooms.

Ooo, a wall! A graffiti-friendly zone? And an opportunity to leave some nuggets of wisdom for the new kids?

Sparkle was all over that, pulling out a glittery purple gel-pen and going to town with his super helpful contributions:

Free food in the cafeteria.
Sick of cafeteria food, order pizza or Chinese and it'll feed half the dorms.
Caritas serves alcohol to minors- no carding. Devil's Nest does card.
Carry a video camera with you. Eventually you'll wish you had one if you don't.

And then he drew a few little hearts and a couple of dicks around the whole sheet of paper, because maturity: Thy name is Sparkle.

Travis wasn't necessarily knew but he still read what others had written. Some he knew and some he didn't so it was educational. Once that was done, he added a few of his own.

Get used to the glitter. It's everywhere.
One day, you might wake up and be unable to stop singing. Don't worry, you won't be alone.
Be careful what you do when you're out of your head. You might get a terrible tattoo.
There's no way to avoid the stairs.

Travis thought that was a good passing on of his own knowledge.

Travis passed by again and had to add something to whomever had answered his first set of statements.

It can be unless your voice is terrible like mine. But overall, it's harmless unless you get embarrassed easily.

Sia had no intention of writing on this thing, but she did stop to look at what people had wrote. And then had to add one thing, pointing an arrow to the tattoo comment.

This is true.

Sigh.

This seemed like a good place to leave questions.

What is an alternate universe, please?

Are we allowed to hunt in the forest?

Hanna nibbled on the end of her pen a moment, then wrote:

Adapt or die.

That was the only wisdom she had to share here.

In practical black ink and boring handwriting:

For every event in time that happens, there are other things that could have happened. For each of those other things, there is a timeline where they did happen, branching off like spokes on a wheel. (Unless the event is below threshh-) Never mind. With the proper equipment, you can travel from one to another. This island is a nexus that connects to many of them.

Was that more than you wanted to know, Hanna?

I don't know about hunting.

Good advice!

Thank you. This explains much that confused me about the island yesterday.

So did that mean there was a world where her father was alive? Where the Witch was alive? Where Hanna was dead?

I surrendered my weapons as ordered. But I think I shall make a bow and explore today. I will write here if it is a good place for it.

You are welcome!

Jalian also added a few of her own:

Some people here don't like it if you don't wear clothing.

If you want food without meat, you can ask for it.

Everything is traded for with money, which is paper or plastic that is useless but represents other things. If you want to get anything for yourself, you will need money.

Underneath Jalian's first sentence, Travis wrote:

Might get a little chilly if you decide to go without clothes during winter. Frostbite in some painful places.

Her next time through, Jalian rolled her eyes, got her pen, and countered:

It isn't chilly in the dorms!

In a hurried blue scrawl under that was added

not everyone feels cold the same way as everyone else.

NUDITY FOREVER

Oh, what a great idea! Cecil grinned and wrote, in lime green marker with lots of flourishes:

The librarians here are not too scary.

There is no city council; the mayor seems to run everything (as much as anyone does).

The squirrels are actually really nice, especially if you give them rum!
