The Pool, Friday Evening

Isabelle wasn't a big swimmer. It wasn't that she didn't know how or anything (because she did), but just that there it wasn't a very important skill for most Shadowhunters to have, and there wasn't a pool at the Institute. Isaac had not planned getting anywhere near the pool but he had caught a familiar smell when he was out wandering the dorms and followed it. For one, it was good training. For two, he was bored. And three, it led him somewhere good. All excellent reasons.

Isabelle finished her lap before deigning to acknowledge him. That probably didn't come as a surprise. Besides, she could do that cute thing of putting her hands against the edge of the pool and peering up at him once she did.

"I didn't think so at first," she said, pushing wet hair back from her face, "but yes."
