That was not the strange part of what was happening, though. The strange part was what was on the television. It was a channel that proclaimed itself to be 'Logo' and the players upon the stage were men in dresses and made up as though they were women.And yelling at

"Huh, what?" Tara asked, with a little wave as she wandered in and started looking for tea. "... are you watching RuPaul?"

She ... shouldn't have been surprised.

"Are you not supposed to meddle in human affairs or something?" Tara guessed.

"...am I?" That was a yes.

[life_inshadow]

"... should I know?" A pause. "I'm guessing yes. Or, um, no. No, you aren't supposed to meddle."

"It would be boring to meddle anyway." No, it would not.

"Tara!" Anna said, happy to see her big sibling. "Do you know what it is? I'm confused."

"I do," Tara said slowly. "It's a game show where men dress up like women."

She blinked at the screen. "Some of them are really good at it."

"They are," Anna agreed. "So it's not like for a play in Shakespeare? It's a game?"

"Pretty much," Tara concurred. "There's more to it, but ... yeah. Basically this is a game show."

She glanced over. "You're into Shakespeare?"

"Not particularly," Anna said with a little shrug. "I wasn't very bookish. I just remembered my English teacher saying that there weren't any actresses then so all the women were played by men. I didn't really understand what was going on with the--" she waved her hand at the television vaguely. "It was all I could think of."

There had been drag queens in 1958, sure, but not where Anna would have heard of them.

"Oh," Tara nodded. "Yeah, this is ... kind of that idea. I wish you could have come to Rio. They have drag queens everywhere."

"Oh, how was it?" Anna asked, brightening. Look, if she had to take her vacations vicariously, she would do it. "Did you have lots of fun? Was it warm?"

"I did!" Tara beamed. "I mean, big cities aren't really my thing, but this one ... I mostly loved the beach. And we did some tourist stuff int he jungles around the city, and there are waterfalls there, and that was amazing."

Anna's eyes were sort of big. "Oh, it sounds wonderful. I always wanted to travel," she confessed, "but, well." Back to talking about Brazil, quick, before she brought the mood down! "Did you bring back pictures? I've heard Brazil is very beautiful."

"I did," Tara said, equally eager to avoid the emo, and rummaged in a pocket for her phone. "See, this is our hotel room" --- which looked like a hotel room -- "and here's me in the mirror in our hotel room, and, um, this is the beach, and this is one of the waterfalls we saw."

"Oh, wow," Anna said. "Oh, it's beautiful. I'm actually even a little jealous that you got to stay in a hotel," she admitted.
