Around the Cabins, Sunday Afternoon

Jun 12, 2011 14:34

Today Wesley felt like being outside. He didn't much mind where exactly, which was why he ended up wandering around the campgrounds, weaving between cabins in search of something to do. It had been a little while since he'd managed to get himself up and about, but today was the day and he was eager to make good use of it. The weather was nice and ( Read more... )

Since the weather was nice, Annie was sitting on the front steps of Menudo with her laptop, doing some studying for her online classes. It may have been a mistake to do so, because she kept getting distracted by things like squirrels, who she kept trying to watch in case she could actually catch them taking notes, or by boys that she smiled at when they walked by.

Huh. Aaaand all of a sudden Wesley was being smiled at.

"Hello," he said, only slightly taken aback. It was just that he hadn't done a whole lot of socializing lately, what with the hiding-in-his-room business. Nothing personal, Annie.

Annie raised her eyebrows. "Hi," she said. "Not used to getting smiled at by random strangers?"

"Not of late, no," he admitted, blushing slightly. "I'm sorry."

Okay, time to start over.

"I'm Wesley," he introduced himself, taking a seat beside her and holding out a hand for Annie to shake. There. That was social, right?

Freddie was out and about himself, with his trusty PearPad and local fauna app.

"Oh, hey Wesley," he greeted. "Just so you know, we really could've used a great guest like you on the show on Friday."

The show... the show... oh, right. That web thing.

"Hello yourself," Wesley replied. "And -- oh? What happened?"

He couldn't say that the idea of guest-starring on a web show had ever occured to him, but then, he'd never even watched a web show, so.

"Oh, well, we just had a little trouble with the guy we did get to come on the show," Freddie said. "Apparently he thought singing while standing in pudding was beneath him."

Huh.

"...Oh," he said. "Is that... that is... do you, ah, often have people sing while standing in pudding?"

Yeah, he had plans for the next... zillion iCarly shows. Sorry, Freddie.

"Is something interesting going on?" Juliet asked, from her perch on the steps of E.M.D. She was thumbing through a volume of Tennessee Williams monologues, and she lifted her sunglasses a bit in interest as she spoke.

(Not that she knew Wesley well -- or at all, really -- but he was there and she was getting bored reading.)

It was eerie -- the dry question, the barely lifted sunglasses, and the half-interest in the proceedings all screamed Cordelia to Wes, and he was momentarily disoriented by how very reminded he was of her.

Then he refocused, because, well, Cordy would certainly not be reading a book.

"Oh, no, nothing really," he hastened to say. "Just out for a walk."

"You actually looked like you were going somewhere," Juliet informed him, a bit more cheerfully. "Too bad that you aren't. It's a nice day, for the middle of nowhere."

[OOC: So sorry, power outage.]

Oh. Well.

"Just wandering," he said again, swinging his arms awkwardly. "The weather is very nice, though. I take it you're appreciating it?"

The book and sunglasses and porchside spot seemed to indicate yes.

"Lose something, little brother?"

After noticing him wandering for a while, Ariel, curious, had to go and ask It wasn't as though she herself was doing anything in particular right now for a change.

Wesley turned, startled.

"What? Oh -- no, nothing," he laughed. "Just walking."

"Walking anywhere in particular?" Ariel wondered, tilting her head thoughtfully at that little start-up there. If she wasn't mistaken, Wesley was totally out of it, and she had a feeling it wasn't just the sun and him not having a hat.

Well...

"Not really," he admitted ruefully. "Just... wandering, I suppose."

He wasn't out of it, per se. Just taking in the island. It was a beautiful day, and he'd been ignoring his surroundings for too long.
