Nathan wasn't smoking today. Nathan wasn't drinking or rolling a joint or doing anything illegal that would have gotten him arrested if he didn't live on an insane fucking island where crime seemed to be embraced or, at least, tolerated ( Read more... )

"Trying to out-stare it, Waffles?" Effy'd never got another name out of him, so nickname borne of the major memorable topic from their last conversation it was.

Nathan didn't even look up. He knew that voice and he knew that smartass tone (he used it so often himself) so he was just going to wave his phone in her direction.

"One of my many, many friends back in England can't live without me," Nathan replied, sending a message back to Alisha to see if he could get some dirty details out of her. "So, I'm throwing her a bone and describing the beast inside my pants for her."

"And she believes you?" Maybe she should try to sound less amused, but-- Nah.

Nathan sent her a glare for that one, forgetting about Alisha for the moment. "She believes me because she has eyes. You could use your eyes too and take a look at the front of my pants to know I speak the truth. Don't look directly at it or you're liable to go blind from awesomeness."

Cara didn't mind the cabins, but it did mean she now had to put at least a modicum of effort into avoiding people.

She decided she probably should have put in a bit more and gone around the campgrounds instead of cutting across them when she saw that Nathan was at the fire. Though maybe he wouldn't recognise her now she was back in her leathers...

Oh, Cara was going to get unlucky today. When he realized someone was approaching, he glanced up idly and went back to looking at his phone. Something about her pinged in the back of his mind though and he looked back up at her.

"Hey!" Yeah, he knew there was something about her, something he should recognize. "You...did something to me!"

Not kicked him as hard and low as she should have, that's that she'd done. "Did I?" She'd also (thankfully) lost the inexplicable Australian accent she'd had over the weekend.

"Why do I know you?" Nathan asked, looking her up and down. The memory still wasn't coming to him and it was probably because it was associated with pain. "Did we go out or something?"

No, that wasn't it.

"Are you trying to tell the future or something?"

Ramona had been coming back from town, an iced coffee in one hand and rollerblades looped over her shoulder. And she had been perfectly content to just go into her cabin but Nathan's weirdness caught her eye. As usual.

"Nope," Nathan replied, glancing over at her. He wiggled his mobile phone at her before answering another text from Alisha. "Alisha's been challenging my masculinity and I'm thinking about proving to her that I'm not a fucking pussy."

"How?" she asked, narrowing her eyes a little. Because that sounded bad. "And she's an ocean and a dimension away. She doesn't seem like much of a threat to your masculinity if you ask me."

Nathan...wasn't sure if he should tell Ramona that Alisha was telling him to jump into the fire and he was seriously considering doing it. Telling her might be a bad thing.

"Uh." He hesitated. "She's...telling me to punch the first bloke I see. Yeah yeah!"
