Boyz II Men Campfire [Wednesday evening]

Jun 08, 2011 17:13

There hadn't really been a reason for her to switch her hair this time -- not a tragedy, or a frantic need to outrun herself, like the last couple times. No, this time, Ramona just woke up, looked in the mirror, and decided she wanted to be pink if this new location was going to be so damn sunny. Blue had gone well with the rain, as had her leather ( Read more... )

Elle had wandered over from her cabin, which was... okay, it was a whole bunch of cabins away. But this was the whole point of the campfires, to be out talking to people and socializing.

"Hi," she said cheerfully, plopping down near Ramona -- but not too near.

Someone was finally getting the hang of personal space.

"Hola," Ramona greeted, though with clearly American pronunciation. "Think a banana'll toast, or melt?"

Elle wrinkled her nose. "I dunno," she said. "I think it kinda depends on how long you have it in there. Just long enough and it'll toast, but I think it'll kinda goop and get melty if it's too long."

"I wonder how people figured this stuff out," Ramona said thoughtfully. "I mean, who first started sticking food on sticks? Who looked at a marshmallow and went, 'You know, that needs a little browning. On a stick.'?"

Nathan had to work tonight but hey, he was the boss and that meant he could go in whenever the fuck he wanted. And when he saw Ramona at a nearby campfire, he decided he could be a little late.

His poor nose was still broken and there was still bruising under his eyes but he looked peppier than he had. That was probably due to the painkillers he'd taken right before leaving his cabin.

"Your hair's pink," Nathan pointed out, giving said hair a look. "What's the occasion?"

"Boredom," she said, waving a still-smoking banana-on-a-stick at him. "Plus it's all sunny and nice. Figured pink looks good for summer. Come help me toast things."

"You getting in touch with your pyromaniac side?" Nathan wondered, taking a seat on the log beside her and reaching for the stick. "You making me dinner, woman? I usually prefer meat."

Ramona reached for the pack of hot dogs to wave it at him. "Then make it yourself. I was bored and feeling experimental. Bananas don't melt, turns out."

Dave stepped out from the cabin and decided to take in the wonderful feeling of repressing the previous weekend and just focusing on classes about zombies and such. Seriously, it made him feel much better.

The coffee he was drinking didn't hurt, either. "Good evening," he said. "Is this cooking experiments, or are you already familiar with roasting fruit?"

"I'm trying to see if it melts," she answered, studying the banana. "So far the answer's no, though it seems like it would, you know?"

"I guess I can see that," Dave said. "Do you think how it cooks changes if the peel's on or off?"

"It's probably less messy with the peel on," she mused, frowning. "I mean, the peel probably keeps it on the stick if nothing else."
