Ariel had herself a great big hat, and a great big hat could do an awful lot for your mood. As if Ariel's ever needed that much improvement in the first place, but coming upstairs and noticing the distinct signs of some sort of celebration (celebratory banners? Check. Celebratory food? Check. Random celebratory hats falling from the sky? Double check), she had to poke her head in and then gravitate toward the snacks.

"Oooh, what's the occasion?"

"It's Liberation Day where I come from," Dolf supplied, beaming at her with slightly less enthusiasm than he would've done normally, but at least he was trying. "We always have a big party with live music."

He waved at the live stream currently playing.

"Liberation Day?" How could Ariel not love a celebration like that? Her grin brightened as she regarded the television for a moment before asking, "What were you liberated from?"

The girl currently singing live on TV went into an upbeat song.

It was sort of helping Dolf's ennui. A little. "From the Germans," he said. "They invaded us and took over the country, but on the 5th of May, about sixty-five years ago, the Canadians drove them away."
