Fourth Floor Common Room | Tuesday Evening

For once, Caroline actually had a project to do! She was kind of excited about the idea of making signs for the sibling she hadn't technically gotten yet, but felt certain she deserved, so of course she was going to get one, it was simply a matter of time. And so Caroline had gathered a ton of supplies from the shop in town, and okay, since there ( Read more... )

Bobby was looking for cookies, but when he saw all the glitter that Caroline was using, he considered backing away slowly.

"Are you a cheerleader or something?"

"Why do you ask that like there's something wrong with me answering yes?" Caroline replied. Bobby was unfortunately not the first person to ask if she was a cheerleader.

"Also, why do people associate posters with cheering? I mean, sure I made like, a billion signs for car washes and bake sales, but I did like, way more of this stuff on student council. I was secretary."

Not that Bobby had asked.

"There's nothing wrong with being a cheerleader!" he said quickly, uncertain if she'd actually answered his question or not. "I mean, it just seems unfair cause they always cheer for the boys' teams but no one ever cheers for the girls' teams, and they really are kind of way too into glitter."

"Student Council here or at your old school?" Bobby checked. "I think Student Council here would have to do rickshaw washes, and then the rickshaw people would probably get annoyed at getting wet."

"We cheered for a lot of sports, including girls' teams," Caroline shared. "Cheering was super busy all year. But I was on the council at home. Apparently you all only do elections in fall at this school so I totally missed out on planning the prom, which is completely unfair because I am awesome at that stuff," she told him, and really, she kind of was. It was the freaky organization at work.

"How do you even clean a rickshaw? They'd probably rust or something and then the drivers would get super pissed and we'd have no one to drag us back to the dorms after a late night at the bar." She paused. "Not that you should ever spend a late night in a bar."

Claudia's room seemed kinda empty-ish now that Quinn had left, and so she found herself wandering through the dorms. She paused in the door to the fourth floor common room and tilted her head.

"Wow. That's some impressive glitter work."

Caroline looked up and grinned. "Thanks! I'm kind of proud. The curve of the horns on the hat were a little tricky, but I think the third attempt worked out pretty well." Glitter vikings were special, okay?

"I can see how they would be." Claudia totally wasn't now pondering how to fabricate a glitter-horned-hat maker. Except for how she kind of was. "I bet the new locals would totally love a hat like that."

"I bet they'd freak out over the shiny," she replied thoughtfully. "If I had a helmet, I might cover it in glitter glue just to find out. Of course, I would rather not have to smell the locals for long enough to get one."

"Did a drag queen explode in here?" Nathan asked, stopping just inside the door so he could look around at the mess she'd made. "Glitter should be fucking outlawed, man."

It just got everywhere! Finding it in his hair three weeks later was never fun.

"Glitter is awesome," Caroline corrected, pointing a glitter glue at him. "And you should just be glad I didn't spread this stuff out all over your side of the room. See how considerate I am? You should tell people what a wonderful roommate you're leaving behind when you go home forever and ever!"

Nathan gave her a look for that one before gingerly stepping around any possible glitter so he could find something to drink in the fridge. If he had to steal something, oh well.

"Glitter is a fucking fungus," he said, head in the fridge, "and stop sounding so excited about me leaving. I might actually shed a tear or two and then where will I be? I'll have to watch your fucking southern romance movie because obviously I'll have lost the right to call myself a man."

"I'm not excited, I'm bummed that I'll have no one to talk to, duh. I'm going to have to put an ad out for a replacement and who knows what I'll have to get used to then," she said, making it all about herself. As was her way.

It was a somewhat mopey Puck who wandered into the common room, though he was trying not to show it. And suddenly, that was a whole lot easier. "Holy crap," he said, staring at all the glitter. "Oh, man, there's no way you can tell me not to call you Care Bear now, Care Bear. Not when there's this much sparkliness."

"I will have you know there is no Sparkle Bear in the Care Bears," she told him, frowning at his continued use of the nickname. "But I'm sure sparkles would go seriously well with you, Puck."

"You would be wrong, actually," Puck told her, shaking his head. "About sparkles going seriously well with me, I mean. I know, I know -- you'd think everything would go awesomely with all of this." He gestured to himself, generously. "Sparkles are a rare exception."

"How do you know?" she asked. "Have you ever tried a little extra glitter in your hair? I'm willing to bet you'd dig it." Or she would, which was kind of the same thing, right?

In passing, it was hard not to notice that there was some artistic endeavor being pursued in the common room, and curiosity beckoned.

"What, may I ask," Alexander went ahead and asked, "is the project? And is there any way in which I may help?"

See and the super polite way he was asking, totally had Caroline smiling and holding up one of her latest attempts at perfection. She was almost there. Almost.

"I am attempting to create the perfect sign to welcome my little sibling to Fandom," she shared. "Not that I know who he or she may be, but it's the thought that counts, am I right?"

Alexander had to chuckle a little bit at that. "Oh, I think it's more than just the thought," he commented, tilting his head thoughtfully at the current piece of glittery artwork being presented to him. "It looks as though you might be on the right track. I didn't think to make my potential sibling a sign; do you think I should? There would certainly be enough time until then."

"I totally think you should," Caroline said, nodding emphatically. "I have plenty of poster! And there's glitter, unless you're anti-glitter. I've noticed that's a trend."
