Second Floor Common Room; Sunday Morning

Jan 09, 2011 09:26

Leo was wide awake after radio and he wasn't comfortable enough to spend all his time stalking Fixer-Uppers yet, so he decided to check out the common room on his floor. It seemed nice, not as high-tech as cabin nine, but it had a TV and food so he really couldn't find much to complain about ( Read more... )

Once again, Caroline was following her nose to the common room with the food. "Mm, Jack was so right about this place," she remarked, going over to see what and who was cooking. "Are you taking orders?"

Leo's initial reaction was to ask if he looked like a waiter, but realizing that it was a girl speaking to him, and a pretty one at that, he was eager to please. "Uh, sure! But, uh, I only know how to cook a few things so don't make it difficult for me."

"Then we should start with what you can do because failure is so not an option when breakfast is on the line," Caroline told him, totally on board with this boy playing personal chef for her. "I mean, I've eaten really terrible food in my time, but that's why I'm not the one with the spatula."

"Well I can guarantee what I give you will be edible," Leo decided. Of course anything could be edible, if you really thought about it. "Do you mind hot stuff?"

That wasn't a come on, by the way.

Up early as he typically was, Bod wandered down a few floors and was pleased to find some people awake on the second floor. The smell of food was just more of a reason to wander inside.

"Good morning," he greeted, not recognizing the other boy. "Whatever you're cooking smells excellent."

"Yeah? Thanks, man. I was worried about smelling up the place for a second." No he wasn't. Making the stuff his mother taught him to cook was one of the few things he had confidence in. "Did you want one? I'm apparently taking orders."

"If you don't mind," Bod said, nodding. "I've yet to really learn how to cook outside of operating a microwave and even that's proven tricky. Did you know you can burn soup?"

"I've never done it myself, but it seems possible. Cooking takes practice," Leo said, chuckling. "You're not allergic to anything, are you? I'd hate to accidentally kill someone my first month here."

Sadly there was the chance he might.

"You know that there's a good chance you're going to be talked into cooking for the entire school now?" Jake asked, having followed his nose into the common room.

"I'm beginning to realize that," Leo said, laughing a little. "Do none of you guys know how to cook?"

"I can cook," Jake defended instantly. "It's just so much easier when someone will do it for you."

"Ah, I see. Conserving energy by putting other people to work. Smart plan," Leo said with a sage nod. "Luckily for you I have no issue with cooking for other people."

For some reason being able to cook was a rare talent for demigods. Leo guessed it was because the ADHD had them leaving things on the stove and the next thing you know kitchen's on fire.

Having just caught a portal back to Fandom after an insane (but really, when were they not?) couple of weeks home, Bobby was headed back up to his room when he got distracted by the smell of breakfast.

"Please tell me you're sharing?" he asked hopefully.

"You're in luck, dude, I totally am," Leo said, grinning. "Been making food for the entire school this morning, it seems."

"I'll totally spring for pizza or something sometime to make up for it," Bobby promised, throwing his duffel at an empty chair before heading kitchenward. "Cause trust me, you don't want me in the kitchen."

"Seems like a fair enough deal," Leo said, laughing a little. "Free food is free food, no matter if it's ordered or homemade."
