Fifth Floor Common Room [evening]

Sep 30, 2010 17:56

Sookie had had better, and less upsetting days. That afternoon, her brother had actually finally returned a phone call -- not to really check on his baby sister, though he did ask after her, but to tell her that he couldn't come to visit that weekend ( Read more... )

Bod hadn't been down to a common room lately so when he smelled something good and found the smell gave way to someone familiar, he decided to stop in.

"Hullo, Sookie," he said pleasantly, giving a brief wave. "Whatever you're making smells quite good."

"Hi, Bod. Like bananas?" she asked, gesturing to the bowl she'd already made. "Help yourself."

"I do and since there's no chance I'd ever make something like this myself, I might take you up on the offer," he said, giving her a smile.

"How are things?" he asked while he retrieved a bowl. "I haven't seen you in awhile."

"They're fine," she said, rather savagely whisking the pudding. "Are you excited for the weekend? Any ghosts coming for you?"

Roy entered the common room carrying shopping bags, and paused when he saw Sookie. "I hope you don't mind sharing the kitchen?" he asked hopefully. "If you do it's cool, I can totally just go invade one of the other floors."

"It's a big kitchen," she said with a smile. "Don't you worry -- unless I'll be in your way? I'm just 'bout done with this second batch, and therapeutic as this is, I'm not sure anyone needs this much pudding."

"No, I don't need a whole bunch of space," Roy said. "I'll try and stay out of your way." He set his bags down, opened one of the top cabinets, and dug around until he found his secret stash of chili spices.

Yes. He was making chili. That chili. So basically this was therapeutic, too.

He beamed at her and said, "There's no such thing as too much pudding," because he was totally a teenage boy.

"I tend to agree, but I'm also not going to eat all of this. You're welcome to some," she said, gesturing expansively. "It's not like my guests this weekend will eat it."

Though if Jason were coming, he'd polish it off without any problem. Stupid flaky brother.

Coincidentally (or perhaps not so, given that the weekend in question was only two days away), Bobby had just received news of his own regarding Parents Weekend visitors, and had been heading upstairs to talk to Sookie when... there she was in the common room.

"Hey!" he wandered over to give her a kiss on the cheek. "I was just coming to see y- oooh, pudding."

"Yeah, I hope you're in the mood to eat pudding. I made a lot," Sookie said with a little shrug as she tilted her head to kiss his jaw in return. "What's up, honey?"

"Email from Warren. Hank can't make it- again," he couldn't help but be disappointed by that particular fact. "Soooo, he's bringing someone else from our, um-" he stopped himself before he ended up saying 'team', "-group of friends."

"Aww, I wanted to meet Hank!" Sookie said, genuinely disappointed. "One of these days." The rest of the information got a little lift of her brow. "Who else is coming, then?"

Karla was restless. Yesterday had been, overall, kind of a lousy day, between debates at the Magic Reserves and then her small breakdown at the theater. And while waking up and finding unicorns outside the dorm had been great originally, these were kind of vapid. There were only so many compliments Karla could take before needing to get out of the conversation, apparently.

Staying on the second floor wasn't possible. She could still hear them calling through the windows.

The fifth floor, however, had no unicorns, tasty food smells, and, once she poked her head into the common room door, people she knew and liked. Excellent.

"Kiss kiss," she called. "Who's making what, and can I have some?"

"Sookie is making pudding, and you can have as much as you want," she called, peeking out of the kitchen and waving her whisk. "I kinda overdid it."

"Not if I'm eating," Karla reminded her, moving into the common room and following her nose over to the first batch still cooling. "Extra-not if both Bobby and I are. Just in that kind of mood?" she asked, with a raised eyebrow. "Or were you egged on by a unicorn?"

"No unicorns egging me on, though they did tell me I'm pretty and they like my accent earlier," she mused. "No, no, this is therapy pudding. My brother's not coming this weekend. But just guess who is? Here's a hint: the last time you saw him, he was ordering me to Dallas."

It had been a while since Jason had had a chance to talk to Sookie, so when he saw her in the common room, especially making food, he decided it was time to say hello.

"Hey," he said, watching her for a moment. "What are you making? It smells good."

"I'm making pudding," she said with a little wave of her whisk. "And Roy's got chili going, so you'll have to eat dessert first. Hope you like bananas, hon."

"Are you sure I won't get into trouble for eating dessert before dinner?" Jason teased. "And bananas are totally fine when they're in pudding form."

"I won't tell if you won't," she said with a smile. "How've you been, Jason?"
