Oh, like Ben was going to miss this. He walked through the doorway, then grinned expectantly at Jono. "Well?"

Well, if Ben wasn't going to miss this, then he certainly couldn't fault Jonothon for trying to rearrange some Van Halen for the electric guitar, could he?

Because today, if you asked Jono, Ben's song was going to have to be Jump.

//Evening, mate.//

He'd just started, and he was already enjoying this. So sue him.

Ben burst out laughing. "I needed that," he said, flopping onto a sofa.

//Long day, is it?// Jono's fingers kept playing over the strings, as idle-as-you-please, while he raised his eyebrows in Ben's direction.

Curiosity: Piqued.

Drawn by the music--and the knowledge that if she stayed in her room she would just brood angrily for the rest of the evening--Karla followed her ears up to the fourth floor and into the common room. Maybe someone would feed her while she was here.

"Kiss kiss," she said, giving the room a dispirited wave. "What's going on?"

[SP because game will start soon. But I will ping back everyone, I sweeeeear.]

Jono did not answer that with words. At least, not at first. First, Jono had to greet Karla with her very own theme music. Which, fortunately for her, was not Yakety Sax, lucky girl.

She'd totally earned herself The Immigrant Song.

Okay, now Jono could make words.

//Music,// he informed her, in case she couldn't guess. //Meet yer new theme song, luv.//

"I get a theme song?" Karla asked, amused eyebrow raised. "Why do I? Though you've got the part about 'land of ice and snow' down."

//Everybody does, today,// Jono replied, shrugging as he continued to play. //Blame it on Ben. I am.//

And happily so. He was actually somewhat enjoying the opportunity to get out and play for people. But ssh, he wouldn't admit it if he could at all avoid doing so.

Rinoa was bored, and felt like stretching her wings a little. ... Just metaphorically, honest.

So she popped her head into the common room, offering Jono a bright smile. "What are you playing?" she asked. Unaware that she was about to be serenaded.

...Sorry Rinoa. Today, you warranted Spice Girls music. Because apparently you made Jono think of Spice Up Your Life.

He wasn't even remotely apologetic about it, either. After you painted his nails, you were going to forever remind him of Girl Power.

//Oh, you know,// he said as he played, //just picking background music for whoever happens to wander in, luv.//

Still not sorry. And he never would be.

"I liked that," Rinoa said, unaware that she was being mocked. Was it mocking? Not caring in the least, here. "Very peppy. You know, you should do this at your store. Select music for people, and then point them to where they can get the CDs."

Oh, it wasn't mockery. But it was a statement, truly.

There was a difference.

//You suppose so? I've already done a lot of acquainting people to modern music since getting th'job there,// he noted. //You'd be surprised how many people don't only have no experience with Earth music, they have no experience with music at all.//

It was depressing, really.

Well, Alexander technically already had his own theme music...

...Two themes, actually, although the second one was still in his future and was actually a theme song to be shared...

...but, that aside, he was really only just hungry and looking to whip up something to eat. Mmm. Food.

"Hello."

//Evening,// Jono greeted, taking one look at the bloke who had just wandered in and jumping into the first song that leapt to mind.

Uptown. Have some Prince, your highness.

//Don't mind th'music,// or the words in your head, for that matter, //this is just a bit of a social experiment, mate.//

"Oh, not at a--," Alexander started, but then stopped as he realized that he wasn't exactly hearing the boy with the guitar's voice the way he would hear other people's voices. It caused him to pause, consider, frown slightly and then try to brush it off.

"--ll," he finished. "I rather enjoyed the tune, actually. What was it?"

//Prince,// Jono replied, quirking an eyebrow slightly at the pause. He was getting used to that sort of reaction, really. If anything, he was thankful that the boy had just continued speaking. //Uptown. Not from around here, I'm going to guess?//

Jono had an eye for these things, really.

Jenny had no idea anything was going on. Well, she could hear the music, she just didn't know what it was about. She was just looking for sustenance, by which she meant food and not liquor (for once). "Mr. Starsmore," she said with a nod. "Having a musical evening?"

You couldn't see this one coming, could you? Really? Some Meredith Brooks? No?

//If you ask me, luv, all evenings should be musical ones. If nothing else, it keeps me busy.//

No Sex Pistols? No Rolling Stones? Jenny was hurt. Hurt, I say. She smirked at Jono and asked, "Coincidence of timing?" Oh, look, an apple. She liberated it.

//Hardly,// Jono replied, bemused. //But I mean it in only th'best way, luv.//

Really, he would have played the Stones if he was attempting to be at all serious about this, but this was some much-needed fun in the wake of the shittiest summer ever.

//How're you doing this evening?//
