Locust campfire- Thursday night

This was really weird.

Jaina didn't have the anxious, jittery feeling in the cabins that she used to. Some closure and time had done some good there. No, the weird part was that she was still in the cabins again. But it was this or singing insects and she'd already screamed at them twice before the announcement, so she figured she was fighting

Loki was used to a big apartment. Getting shoved into a small, tiny alcove was not on and he was not happy.

"Didn't you take my class before?" he asked, tone and expression cranky.

"Was there a lot of cursing? Then yes I did," she said. He was one of the few that had managed to annoy her into snapping in class, too!

"Then why the fuck are you down here?" Loki asked. He, obviously, didn't keep up with the goings on of a lot of people in town. "Aren't you like twelve?"

"Twenty-seven," she corrected. "Welcome to Fandom, that happens here. Thanks for assuming younger, though."

Dani was not pleased to be sleeping in a cabin, but after being kept awake all night by insects, she had slept all afternoon. Feeling a little bit better, she ventured out in search of food.

She paused as she passed the campfire. "Are those s'mores?" she asked. "I don't think I've had those in ages."

"They are. I have a theory the more you have, the faster the Celine Dion songs leave your head," Jaina told her. It was a horrifically incorrect theory, but that was not the point.

"May I join you, then?" asked Dani. "If I ever hear another Celine Dion song, I may go out of my mind. It was bad enough that one of her songs was the theme for my high school prom."

"Try being gremlin-bitten into thinking you're her," she said dryly. "But sit, let the s'mores do their job."

"This seems awfully odd," Price said, sitting down at the campfire. He has a pack of six bottles of British lager with him, which he held out. "But then, better than those awful bugs."

"They're not so bad, just loud." And really annoying. Still, Jaina had this urge to stick up for them in every way that excluded Celine Dion.

"Well, they're not two foot long cockroaches, I'll give them that," Price said. "Not that I need a clean place to sleep, mind you. I'll take somewhere warm, any day."

Jaina raised her eyebrows. Look, it was all about the bugs lately, apparently. "Two foot long cockroaches?"

Millie and Proudfoot were out wandering around since being in that small alcove was making her just a touch claustrophobic. She saw people at one of the campfires and wandered over. "Good evening!"

"Hey," Jaina greeted her. "Join the s'mores party. Everyone is." And this was a good thing in her book.

"S'mores?" Millie said curiously. Then her eyes widened as she remembered something she'd read. "Wait! Are these the concotions with marshmallow and chocolate and some sort of biscuit thing?"

That was new phrasing. "Those are the concoctions, yes. Want to give it a try?"

Back from the bar, John couldn't say no to a campfire. "Look at this. Me, you, and a campfire of our best friends." Or something like that. John knew she was old, but he didn't think she looked bad in the glow of the fire. He also wasn't sitting down straight away in case it was weird for her.

So, okay, Jaina might have been nervous about the first time she'd see him again, considering the last time she'd run into an ex there had been revelations about how she'd ruined his life before they tried to kill each other. Call her a little gun shy. But once she saw him, she couldn't not smile, even standing and then realizing she had no idea whether this was a hug situation. "Just like old times. Except I'm younger than you."

She'd so heard radio.

"Well, I've had a lot of years to get used to that concept," he returned. "Is it like old times where a guy's gotta ask for the old Care Bear stare?" Certain things could never be forgotten. Thank pictures and video.
