Fourth Floor Common Room | Saturday Morning | 6/26/2010

Peter was deliberately trying to ignore the fact that he seemed to be plastic. He didn't want to deal with that.

It was, however, making sipping his coffee a problem. As he sat in the common room, Dirty Jobs on the TV, he couldn't help but wonder if he was going to accidentally melt something ( Read more... )

Yeah, this plastic thing was interesting. Ariel wasn't entirely sure if it was just her or not; she didn't see anyone in her own common room that morning, so she went downstairs to the next one, peeked in, and saw someone similarly afflicted.

So she went ahead and waved with her odd C-shaped hand and bounced in. Well, would have bounced. Her legs didn't seem to have knees right now, which complicated bouncing.

Peter gave the other plastic person a little salute. He shrugged a bit, a little unsure what to say.

Or, he mentally admitted, if he could say. He hadn't tried talking yet.

Whether or not it was possible with the painted on mouths or not shouldn't be an issue to Ariel, all things considered. She walked, jerky and odd as it was, over the couch and plopped down (or really, sort of fell) into the couch, and tilted her head (well, tilted her whole self, since turning seemed the best her head could do right now) at the TV, wondering what was on.

She seemed to be taking the whole boxy plastic body thing well in stride, but perhaps that came for the fact that it still wasn't as weird as going from fins to feet.

Peter gave it a shot.

"This really doesn't make for a relaxing Saturday," he finally said, vaguely impressed he had spoke.

Behold! By lack of imagination from the mun's part some divine luck, Delirium hadn't gotten plastic. Which, in her own opinion, was a shame, since she had spotted Ariel leaving and that looked like way too much fun to be missing. Well, she had gotten to be really rational and stuff, and you couldn't have all, right?

But for now she was squealing at lego!Peter. Because it was ridiculously cute.

"D'aaaaaaaaw." Yep, she was just doing that.

Peter was a wee bit baffled, really. He sort of stared, wondering why she of all people was still normal.

Er, well, however normal Del was usually.

Right, he hadn't seen Del dressing properly, talking with a lot of sense, and being responsible and logical. So normal it was slightly creepy.

"Plastic, um, suits you." Hey, it was true!

"Let's hope it doesn't become a habit," Peter said. "Guess whatever you are is immune to this stuff."

Claudia was not trying to ignore the fact that she was plastic. She was, in fact, kind of fascinated by the fact that she was plastic. Not quite as much as the fact that the plastic had seams and she was pretty sure she could probably take her entire hand off -- if she ever figured out how to get her other arm to bed in any way other than raising up and down.

She peered into the common room. "Anyone here manage to maintain any fine motor control?"

"You should have seen me struggle with the coffee maker," Peter said. "Not that I'm able to really drink it properly."

It wasn't as though Claudia could nod, today (though she could swivel her head around 360 degrees). She raised her own arm experimentally, noting that the angle of the swivel joint didn't allow for her hand to actually, you know, reach her mouth.

"Yeah, that'd be difficult." She looked at the TV. "Had some success with the remote though, huh?"

"I wedged it in the couch cushion so it'd stay in place," Peter admitted. "This was the channel it was already on."

Lucky break, really.
