"Yep," Zack said, as the members of the reserves gathered, "I'm still getting you guys to think about what happened a few weeks ago with the gremlins, this week ( Read more... )

Eat cookies! This is the important part of the meetings, after all.

Eating cookies was an important part of the meeting, but Ino was more content with the fact that the meeting meant she could hide up in her tree and sulk about class today.

Pffft.

Though she did like the topic here. Much more interesting than class. Hmph.

Jen nibbled on a cookie and thought about the topic posed.

After all, it was the sort of thing she didn't really have to worry about, normally. She didn't use weapons usually. But then again, when you're super strong almost anything was a weapon. Signposts, manhole covers... the possibilities were endless when you thought of it that way...

The reserves? Nearly a lifetime ago for Jak.

And still.

Maybe it was the boredom of sitting on his ass for over a week. Maybe it was nostalgia. Who knew. He caught the noise of the meeting and came wandering in, picking a wall to lean against and observing things from the rear.

What do you do if you're caught off-guard by an invasion? What have you done in the past? Is there any way that you can change your habits when you're away from the dorms in order to better safeguard against unexpected assaults by gremlins or worse?

"Well, letting people know where you're going, so if you don't turn up, they at least go looking for you-- that's a start," Dinah said aloud. "And yeah, going armed would seem like a good idea now. Although that's inconvenient if you're going off-island to a place where that wouldn't be kosher. Hmmmm..."

"I don't really use weapons," Kurt announced with a shrug, "but... If anyone ever needs me to take them to the weapons locker real quick, just let me know. I can be there and back just like--"

Bamf! He teleported about two feet to his left in a puff of smoke.

"-- that."

Illyria considered "Die" as an answer to "what have you done in the past," but decided it was accurate and possibly amusing, but unhelpful.

"Carry a weapon, or be one," she said succinctly, instead. "Preferably both."

Zack was there, running through ways that his initial encounter with the gremlins could have gone more smoothly.

He probably would have killed the gremlin before it could take a large, messy bite out of his arm, for example...

Arthur was... more than averagely acquainted with the idea of using loose debris, broomsticks, vases, chunks of--

Well, let's just say that improvisation was, at least, not one of his weaknesses. (He'd tell you this was because of years of training and discipline. He'd be lying. It was because Morgana had clocked him over the head and into a pond with a piece of horse manure somewhere around age 12 and he'd sworn he would never, ever be caught off guard again, on price of his ego)

He was there, contemplating the finer points of some of his previous encounters with such.

Merlin was a firm believer of things falling on people as a form of attack. A very firm believer.

"You're not going to throw things at me, are you?"

You know what is freaking adorable? The olympic mascots. They are freaking adorable.

I want a Sumi all of my very own. This has led to me buying far, far too many of the February Happy Meal toys at work, yes. (I am just missing one Miga toy, and I will have collected all eight.)

THEY ARE BEYOND ADORABLE. I have a weetiny keychain Miga who rides around on my laptop bag, and a Sumi and Quatchi and Mukmuk who sit on the bed and are cuddleable, because longislandiceme is awesome. :D :D :D

Baby J has her very own Quatchi, which used to be bigger than her.

Now she drags it around the house by his earmuff.
