Of course, the night was made even better after an earlier trip to the mainland yielded a brownie and something a little bit more exciting than cigarettes to smoke. He thought he deserved a break

Rose was looking for the lumberjack on the roof was looking for fresh air without going down four flights of stairs. The air on the roof was - okay, rarely fresh but not exactly Common Room-y either.

"Celebrating break?" she asked when she saw the source of the non-fresh air.

"Pretty sure everyone's noticed by now," Rose pointed out dryly. "But I'll revel in the knowledge of your good deed."

"Your weekend and week go all right besides that?" Alex wondered. "No one else beat the shit out of you?"

"Not bad," she said. "There's been a lot of drinking. You?"

"Why drinking?" he asked, ignoring her question under the guise of being curious about her alcoholic intake. "That bad?"

"We just talked about the ass-kicking, right?" Rose asked. "Then there was sympathy drinking. Jaina has timeline issues."

"I don't even know what that means," Alex admitted. Whether that was due to not having timeline issues or what he was smoking, he didn't know. "Sympathy drinking is something I can get behind. You get drunk off your ass?"

"Not so drunk I got in trouble training the next day." Which was the important thing, but Rose snickered in memory. "She totally got drunker. Girl can't hold her alcohol."

"You know, if you'd really wanted to make this story exciting for me, you'd have told me you and she had some drunken fun together," Alex said, unable to stop himself. "Given me sweet dreams for a fucking week."

"Oh, right," Rose said, like she was remembering that. "Cause it's my job to give you sweet dreams."

"I need some sweet dreams," he said, frowning and trying to look oh so pathetic.

"Maybe you should make your own," she teased and looked TOTALLY NOT LIKE A BOY RLY.

"But I asked you," he said, leaning forward some just to get his point across and not because he missed her boy!self.

"Anyway," Rose said off-handedly but not really. "The drunken fun was a few weeks back at that all girls party of Karla's."

"I only heard a little about that," he said, blowing out a stream of smoke but keeping it politely away from her. "Gonna tell more now?"

"A little more?" She said easily. "Sure. You know that Fandom thing about how glitter makes guys kiss each other? Think it works on girls too. Or maybe there just weren't any guys around." Which had been stupid, yeah.
