The Valley Campfire: Monday Afternoon

Jul 20, 2009 10:15

Anyone coming across the campfire today would find Layla sprawled out on a blanket as she traced a convuluted route on a map of the Northeastern part of the United States. She was lying on her stomach with her feet up in the air as she munched on a snack of raisins and goldfish crackers ( Read more... )

"Hey, it's the girl who made me take off my pants," Hannibal said, wandering over towards Layla and the campfire.

"Well I'm sure there were people who failed to see the awesome that is you," Layla teased. "And we are in front of a girl's cabin. Can't we get a little fanservice?"

Kate was passing the Valley cabin on her way to town, with Bobby the penguin poking his head from the bag she was carrying. When she saw there were people around, she decided that she could do with a little detour, and approached the fireless campfire.

"Hi, people."

"Hi!" Layla said with a cheerful wave. "How are you?"

"Pretty good," Kate answered with a smile. "You?"

"Good," Layla replied. "We haven't met. I'm Layla Miller. I know stuff. How's Bobby doing living the life of a penguin?"

"I loathe this school," Tybalt announced, making his way from his cabin to the first campfire that held some faint promise of company, and smelling faintly of cat food. "I loathe this school, this island, and..."

He'd come up with something.

"... Thee." His eyes settled on Layla. Maybe he'd have been better off as a can of cat food, after all.

"Hey there Tender Vittles," Layla said cheerfully. "Welcome back to the world of the animate."

"It was Fancy Feast," Tybalt replied, but the absurdity of that statement was just enough to keep him from actually hissing those words. Instead, he brought up a hand to rub at his temple, frowning deeply. "And I'll thank thee to speak to me by name. I'm certain that thou knows what it is, after all."

"Poor Tybalt," Layla said with a click of her tongue. "You should just feel lucky no one opened you up to feed the multitude of cats on campus."

It wasn't "their" campfire (it wasn't really a campfire either, since it wasn't lit, but details), but still Firekeeper and Blind Seer were here.

Firekeeper gave a nod to the girl who had her face. Even after meeting others in Fandom who had "twins" who were unrelated, it remained disconcerting.

"Hello," she said, before reaching hesitantly for a can of one of the fizzy drinks.

"Hey there," Hannibal said, giving her a wave. "Welcome to the campfire!"

He was all about welcoming people, apparently.

"Is no fire here," Firekeeper felt compelled to point out. "So why call it campfire?"

"Because that's what I'm used to saying and campfire area was just too long," he said and laughed. "Guessing you're a literal person?"

"Planning a trip?" Valentine couldn't help asking when she passed by and spotted Layla and the map.

"Kinda," Layla replied. "Not for me really. How are you today, Valentine?"

"Who's it for?" Valentine asked, with a slight grin. "And shouldn't you know that, Layla, how I am today?"

"Someone who needs it," she said with a smirk. "And I was really just making conversation. Soda?"
