The Roof - Early Monday Afternoon

Jun 15, 2009 10:17

Chuck was still in the bad mood when he woke up on Monday but even he was getting bored of sitting around and drinking. Sure, sitting around and smoking wasn't exactly much of a difference but at least it was a change of scenery. It really pissed him off that this whole Blair thing was affecting him so much and he was spending his time on the roof ( Read more... )

After her workshop, Claire found herself distracted and thinking about things she didn't want to think about, so she headed up to the roof to clear her head.

"Oh, hey, sorry, I didn't realize anyone else was up here," she said when she spotted Chuck.

"Don't be sorry; it's a free roof," Chuck said. "If I had really wanted to be alone I'd be in my room."

He hated it when people moped in public places and acted like it was a huge surprise when people came up on them.

"That makes sense," Claire said. "Unless you have a roommate and wanted to be away from him or her."

"True. But I'm lucky enough to be roommate free," Chuck said. He did miss Susan sometimes though. She was hot. "Are you avoiding your roommate?"

Leto carried the baliset on his back. He'd rather not spend another day in his room, and the roof was the closest he got here to the rock above Sietch Tabr.

"Good afternoon," he said, nodding towards Chuck, before sitting down to tune the instrument.

Chuck gave Leto a nod back before eyeing the baliset. "What is that?"

"A baliset," Leto replied, looking up again. "I believe you have similar instruments in this time."

"Looks familiar. But I'm not exactly the musical type." Going to the opera didn't count. That was just an excuse for Upper East Siders to out-dress each other.

"Hey, Chuck," Amber said, moseying out on the roof. She had nothing better to do and she was enjoying her recent gift from Lisa. A nice bottle of raspberry vodka. Lisa was such a good friend.

Not entirely inebriated she was smart enough to pour it in a large coffee cup. With a lid even.

"Hello, Amber," Chuck said. "I haven't seen you in a while."

"I know; been kind of keeping to myself aside from work and TA'ing," she replied with a light shrug. "What've you been up to?"

"Just the usual stuff," Chuck said, shrugging back at her. "It's been kind of boring around here lately."

Okay that was a lie but Chuck prided himself on his apathy.

Some days, Karla thought she might be half-Eyerian. She just wanted some height, the ability to look down and see as much of the world as possible. Usually, in these moods, she'd just airwalk until she was as high as she wanted and sit and contemplate the world. Today, however, she felt like being sociable, too. The roof seemed like a good combination of those two desires. Maybe she'd run into Ender or Dinah up here.

She didn't see either of them, but she did spot a few people she knew. "Kiss kiss," she greeted Chuck. "How've you been?"

"Hello, Karla," Chuck said. He will always be amused by that greeting. "I've been good. No complaints."

Liar.

"What about you?"

Riiiiight. She didn't need to read his psychic scent to know that was a lie.

"Fine tuning my bullshit-detection alarm," she said bluntly. "Funny how it just went off there."

"What's that supposed to mean?" he asked.
