First Floor Rec Room, Monday Afternoon (After Classes)

Dec 01, 2008 08:31

It was too cold to do this at the boardwalk again, so Reno and Dōjima had moved the operation into the dorms. They'd taken over the first-floor rec room, since it had the most seating, and they could hopefully grab anyone going to-and-from the building. There were lots of moddable snacks from JGoB, and the two co-conspirators were in high spirits ( Read more... )

They're wandering around, if you want to chat or have a question you didn't want to ask infront of the entire dorm.

Romeo went pale. A year of dating Yurika couldn't change his fundamental belief that women were somehow angels. "I beg you not to do that, then," he said. "For them, as well as for us. Permit me my delusions."

And his balls.

"We'll let it slide, for now," Reno grinned with a shrug. "One of these days, man, you're gonna walk in on it or somethin', and then I'll be there to buy you drinks to help you work through the trauma."

He was thoughtful that way.

And also, he was working again. He could afford to buy trauma-sparing booze.

"Walk in on the girls together?" Romeo's brain may have been going to an interesting place.

..... A very interesting place.

"I was talkin' about them talkin', but damn, if you walk in on somethin' like that, don't interrupt 'em. Phone me. Quick. Get pictures until I get there, you hear me?"

It was the best interesting place ever.

Romeo laughed. "I'll do all that and more," he pledged. "How was your break, by the way? I did near nothing."

[OOC: Heading home, back later.]

Romeo was Reno's best buddy ever, dammit.

"Near nothin' seems like a good thing to do on a week off, yo. I avoided the turkey... thing. Earth holidays are just too friggin' weird for me. But I did get myself a job."

Worrrrrrrrrking. Best ever, yay!

[See you!]

"Then what do you celebrate on Gaia?" Romeo asked, amused. "And what sort of job?"

"There was this one kinda... holiday, I guess you could call it. Sorta Midgar-specific. ShinRa'd haul this huge-ass tree in, from... shit, I don't even know. But it was the only green anyone'd see in the city all year round, yo. Coldest part of the year, you don't see daylight even if you live topside, here. Have a tree. And then for a few nights, they'd light it up. Kinda more a festival than a holiday, I guess. But it's about all we had."

Reno shrugged. "Kinda don't have that anymore, anyhow. No ShinRa, no Midgar, no tree. Things change, man. Five years ago, I figured Midgar was forever. Five months ago, I thought the same about the Turks. Five days ago, I was talkin' to a killer rabbit and a dog in a fedora about becomin' a cop."

"It's odd that the worlds are so different, but the tree is all but the same," Romeo noted. "There was always one in the town square in Verona, just covered in lights and lights. It's a pagan thing, I'm told, at least for us."

"And no. Nothing is forever. Though working for a rabbit and a dog" -- and Romeo was mildly amazed at his ability to repeat that without blinking -- "is not the kind of thing one would ever expect. It sounds like good work for you."

"You guys got a tree, too?" Reno tilted his head for a moment, considering. "What do you figure it'd cost to have somethin' like that sent out to Edge? I mean... It's just one tree, outta my own pocket, and Edge is kinda..."

Frankly, Edge sucked. Maybe they needed a freaking tree.

"It's slow work, so far. Mostly, I feed the goldfish."

This was better than saying, 'Mostly, I feed the goldfish. And also the guy tied up in the closet.'

"I've no idea," Romeo admitted. "I could make up a number but it would be making it up. You should try, though."

He shrugged one shoulder. "At least the goldfish won't be hungry."

Dōjima was pretty cheery after their little lecture, and could easily be found wandering around, making sure people had fun.
