Michael didn't catch Earth germs, ever, and his body temperature was higher than the human norm. Thus, he scoffed at puny Earth snow and hadn't bothered to wrap up warm.

A perfect target, no?

It started to melt almost as soon as it hit, and he sputtered as snow and meltwater got into his mouth. His hands were resting lightly somewhere on Ino's sides.

"...I guess I deserved that."

Her bubbling laughter was probably a good sign that she agreed. "Snow is the best thing ever." Well, at least for today. She wiggled happily.

The wiggling was very distracting for a sixteen-year-old boy.

"Never seen it before," he said idly. "I grew up in the desert."

Of course it was. That was why wiggling existed.

"Oh? Well, consider this your introduction!" Ino said brightly, snowflakes sticking to her hair, "It's pretty rare back home too."

"But you've taken to it so well", he teased. "Where's home, anyway?"

"Konoha!" Ino told him, grinning, "It's in the Fire Country!"

"...yeah, I guess you really wouldn't have much snow anywhere with a name like that."

"We do have lots of trees though," she said, "the full name of our village means 'Village Hidden in the Leaves'."

"That's kind of pretty. There's trees at home, kinda. But only in the towns, where people look after them."

Ino shook her head, "I can't even imagine that. I mean, we've got deserts back home but I've never been there you know? Not having trees around sounds crazy."

"You get used to it. Or not even that, it just kind of... is."

"Hmmmm." Ino rested her chin in one hand and grinned at him. One hand was sneaking for another bit of snow. "That still seems so strange to me."

Then she cheerfully dumped a bit more on his face and scrambled to her feet laughing.

"Ino!" he protested as soon as he could speak, then he was off after her.

She darted away, laughing, and tossed back over her shoulder, "Like you'd ever be able to catch me!"

"You want to bet?"

His legs were longer, after all.
