It took Andrew less than five seconds to realize who it was sitting on the edge of the roof. He didn't turn around and leave. Something about seeing Neil sitting there like that...
He didn't realize what he was doing until he was sitting on the edge of the roof next to Neil. He wasn't touching the other boy, but he was close enough to feel his heat cutting through the brisk air.
"I'm kind of scared of heights," he said, not knowing what else to say.
Andrew took the offered hand and scooted over to close the gap between them.
"I don't know where to start," he said, gazing out over the island.
"When you ran away yesterday, it was like... it hurt. And I realize it was totally my fault. But if what you saw, what I said to you, when I was older, if it hurt you that much, I can understand if you don't want me anymore."

"The view is just, spectacular up here," he explained softly.
Then, after a brief hesitation, he turned his hand palm up and held it out towards Andrew, to take or ignore as he felt best.
