The Roof, After Sunset

Andrew had spent most of the day cloaked in shadows, walking about the island and thinking of how pathetic his life used to be. "I shouldn't have come back. Attending the reunion was a foolish idea ( Read more... )

Peter was still in a lingering emo thoughtful mood. So he headed up to the roof to get away from it all.

He was surprised to see an adult there. "Um... hi?"

Andrew looked the kid over. "I recognize your face," he said. "But I'm afraid your name has been lost over the years. Not that it matters."

"Nice to see you too," Peter said. "Who are you again?"

Andrew had long since stopped using his given name. In the wrong hands, like his, a name can be a powerful thing. But it was the past and distantly so in his mind. "Andrew. Andrew Wells," he said. "And yours?"

Blackheart found his way to the roof. He rather liked it up there- it offered an impressive view of what the surface world had to offer. And tonight was no different. He was quite prepared to perch on the rooftop, overlooking the island below.

Just a small sample of all that would one day be his.

If only that pesky other source of dark malevolence wasn't there spoiling his moment of basking in his evil plans.

He looked over at the individual who was sharing this malevolent moment with a raised eyebrow.

"Good view."

"I've seen better," Andrew replied, not turning around to look at the boy. He knew who it was. Even dampened as it was here at Fandom, that kind of power was easy to sense.

"Enjoying yourself, Blackheart?"

"I haven't," Blackheart replied, an underlying sense of frustration bubbling up in those words. So much more to this place, and here he was, stuck on this pathetic little island.

He returned his gaze to the view of the island.

"I suppose I should know you?"

"I suppose you should," Andrew replied. "I haven't forgotten you. I've kept tabs on you over the years, the best I could. Lesser beings will tell you anything with the right persuasion."

He turned towards his little sib. "I haven't grown that old in appearance, have I?" He had a demon servant that made sure of that.

Blaze wandered his way up to the roof. It was after sunset, but he still much preferred to have open sky over his head, no matter what the demon in him thought.

He nodded to the man already up there in a distantly polite way. "Hi."

Andrew frowned. Something about this one set him on edge, but he didn't worry. When you can summon an army with a few simple sentences, you didn't worry about much.

"Hello."

There was something in the air that set the Rider on edge, but Blaze ignored it for now. The sun was down, they'd be okay if it had to come to that.

"You like lookin' at the stars too?" he asked, as a way of making small talk.

"It's pointless to gaze upon that which you can't control," Andrew responded.
"I keep my sights a little closer to home. For now."
