Sam had slept pretty well, but now had a burning desire to be greasy, which she was chalking up to a reaction to formalwear and heels. Nik peered down at her, blue eyes huge. "Ya need to tighten that with a hydrospanner," he informed her firmly. "Or else you'll turn into bug squash on the first corner."

"Thanks, I knew that already," Sam mumbled, then turned around when she realized the voice was a little higher pitched than she was used to hearing. "Um, hi?"

Nik was crawling under the bike and had a smudge of grease on his nose already. "Hi!" he said, smiling. "I was trying to find caf but this is much better nananayway."

"Should you be doing that?" Sam asked, worried in equal amounts for both the child and the bike. "And who are you?"

After breakfast, Cameron and Marybeth were heading back to Cameron's room. Cameron was distracted on the phone and Marybeth spotted someone she knew.

"Auntie Sam!" she exclaimed, running over. "Whatcha doin'?"

Sam blinked. The little girl didn't look like either her niece or nephew, but the odds of a random child calling her by the right name were astronomical. "Er, fixing the swoop bike."

"Daddy has a swoopbike!" Marybeth said. "But Mommy says I'm too little to go for rides right now cause he goes too fast. I have to wait til I'm bigger or til Daddy learns to be more 'sponsible."

Cameron hung up his telephone after leaving Veronica a message and followed after Marybeth.

"Yo, Sam," he said, looking a bit dazed as he listened to all the babbling.

Aiden had lost him. Jake pouted a bit as he kept walking, sort of looking for him only not really, 'cause he was bossy.

Oooh, garage! He ran inside, stopped dead when he saw his mom, then ran across to hug her legs. "Mommy! Aiden lost me." That was important. "Even if he said he didn't, he did and we left you a note on a tree and had cake but it wasn't a 'gate in disguise and what's that?" He'd caught sight of the swoop bike.

"Mommy?" Nothing else after that really connected and she stared down at the little boy.

Jake stared up at her, still hugging her legs, and grinned what might be a very familiar grin. "Yeahhhh, and that means you have to show me what that is. Come on, show me." He took her hand and started tugging her towards the bike.

"Hold it," she ordered, for lack of anything better to do, and moving so that she was standing between the little boy with a familiar grin and unholy gleem in his eye and her swoop bike. "I...what's your name and rank, soldier?"

Charlie had played in the park just long enough to get a little dirty, then she'd followed the stream of other kids up to the big big building.

Most of them seemed to know where they were going so she was on her own, but that was alright 'cause just then she saw someone she knew and that someone was dirtier than she!

"'unt Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam!" She called gleefully as she hurried toward Sam.

"Hi!" Sam was getting used to this by now, and grinned at the almost-clean little blonde girl, waiting to see which parent ran up to claim her. "What have you been up to?"

"I'm playing too," she grinned at the swoop bike, then at the door. Hmmm, no parents yet. "Where's your mommy and daddy?"
