The roof, Monday afternoon

Mar 19, 2007 13:51

The weather had warmed up a bit, and Nadia had gone the whole weekend without properly practicing with her guitar, so she hit the roof after her class, perching on the corner of the ledge overlooking the preserve, one foot propped on the wall as she idly tuned the sucker up and tried to decide what to play.

The roof was, as always, open.

Marty was bored and decided to wander around the dorm to see if there was anything interesting going on. Lo and behold he spotted Santos and new that heckling must occur.

"Excuse me but do you take requests?" Marty asked with a smirk.

Nadia knew Marty well enough by now to be on guard. "Sure . . . ."

"How about 'Tie a Yellow Ribbon 'Round the old Oak Tree?" Marty said grabbing a seat on the ledge.

Nadia frowned. She didn't know that one. He was probably just making up a song title to stump her. Well, she couldn't have that.

She started playing a hard rock riff.

Oh, tie a yellow ribbon 'round that old oak tree,
Yes, tie that ribbon 'round it tight,
If you've ever cared a bit about me,
You'll tie a yellow ribbon 'round that old oak tree.

You wore that ribbon, babe, when we first went to see
That hardcore band playing in the park at night,
So if you've ever cared a bit about me,
You'll tie that ribbon in the park on that tree.

Ooo, baby, baby, tie that ribbon tight,
Ooo, baby, baby, and we'll talk all night,
Ooo, baby, baby, that tree is really pretty,
Ooo, baby, baby, Marty requested a song that's . . . really bad.

Hey, she figured it wasn't bad for being made up on the spot.
