Writing Workshop - 08/22 - Journalism Classroom - Tuesday Morning

Chloe had a plate of cookies sitting on the desk next to her, as well as some sodas, and a box of tissues. The tissues were just for decoration though, because she wasn't getting sniffly or anything. The fact that all the missing tissues were currently in her hand was a total coincidence.

"So, we've reached the end of the session already, huh?" she remarked sadly. "I just want you both to know that you've been awesome and fantastic, and because of that, we're going to do things a little differently today than we have in the past few weeks." Managing a smile, she stood up and grabbed a sheet of paper off of the desk. "The topic for our final class is romance, and rather than give you a handout, I figured I'd give you all an actual example."

With that, she read them the story of Chlois, who was now the benevolent Queen of Smallvilleland. Having discovered that her previous lovers, Alexander and Clark, were secretly sharing moonlight moments in the barn while she wasn't looking, Chlois had cast them both aside, and sworn that she would never love again. All was going well with this plan until Chlois' rival, King Lionel of Metropolishire discovered a clause in Smallvilleland's charter than stated Chlois could only remain queen if she was got married within the next six months.

So, the search for a proper match began, and by the time the queen's men had searched every castle and farmhouse in the land, they had narrowed their choices down to two men. The first was Lord Cameron, who was an upstanding member of the kingdom's militia, and was appropriately appreciative of the queen's shapely features, if a bit clumsy and goofy. The second was Lord Bel, who owned an estate at the edge of the kingdom. He was dark, and handsome, but was said to consort with a number of other women, and possibly a mermaid or two. Chlois decided that the only way she was going to be able to properly discover which man would provide a better match would be to meet each of them on her own, in her private chambers...

At this point, Chloe stopped reading, and glanced back at the class with what might have been even less shame than she'd shown at the end of the last session. "Your assignment for today is to decide how the story ends. Does Chlois end up picking Cameron? Or Bel? Or a different man behind barn door number 3? Or does she strike up a savory deal with King Lionel? Note that that last option should only be used if you can't think of anything else. Seriously."

[It should be noted that neither Cameron nor Bel's muns had anything to do with this crack. It's all the result of me on not enough sleep. *g* Also, my availability is questionable until 5:30PM EST.]
