The forecast for today might have called for rain, but thankfully, there was no sign of bad precipitation in Fandom. There was something about Jono that piqued his curiosity, however. Perhaps it was the bandages.
"Your pet is keeping awfully calm in this crowd," he said.

It helped that she had remained surprisingly small since he'd gotten her, either because of some genetic quirk fitting for the pet of a mutant, or because of some whimsy of the island. Jono wasn't complaining.

She was already purring. Apparently Joni approved of the new man with the furry face, too. A good sign, if you asked Jono. She was generally a good judge of these things.
