Detention, Depths of the Castle, Tuesday

Jul 24, 2012 00:48

Another bright, shining, and pink day had begun for the prisoners guests being held in detention, and while the morning started off the same as the day before, there was a strange sort of feeling in the air once people began waking up. A kind of... musical feeling, in fact ( Read more... )

It was still pretty bland, but it was warm this morning! What a blessing, truly.

Jaye was picking at her food, but she didn't want to go a whole day without eating, so she was getting through it. She was contemplating throwing bits of the leftovers (and there would be leftovers, dammit) at others, just to liven things up.

Sing before she throws stuff, people.

As Zayne poked around at his food again, he couldn't help but feel somewhat optimistic. He'd been here for years now, and you know what? Warm oatmeal was a good start to the day. It made him optimistic for the day to come.

It was enough to make a guy sing.

"I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart
Where?
Down in my heart!
Where?
Down in my heart!
I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart
Down in my heart to stay

And I'm so happy
So very happy
I've got the power of the Force in my midichlorians
In my midichlorians
And I'm so happy
So very happy
I've got the power of the Force in my midichlorians

I've got the power of the Force, the power of the Force
In my midichlorians
Where?
In my midichlorians
Where?
In my midichlorians
I've got the power of the Force, the power of the Force
In my midichlorians
Where?
In my midichlorians to stay.

And if Umbridge doesn't like it
She can sit on a tack!
Ouch!
Sit on a tack!
Ouch!
Sit on a tack!

And if Umbridge doesn't like it
She can sit on a tack!
Ouch!
Sit on a tack to stay!Zayne ( ... )

And that would be a little bit of breakfast flying past Zayne's head. Look, it was a little easier to aim with proper nutrition and sleep.

"Damn hippie."

Or sing with them! Make pretty harmonies about your suffering!

Dinah had tried to glue her mouth shut with bad food before. But now:

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing the song of angry men
It is a music of the people
who will not be slaves again...

Joy. Rapture. Head-wall.

Goose was sitting in his usual spot away from everyone but every now and then he would start singing much to his annoyance.

"I'm a nightmare, a disaster
That's what they said
I'm a lost cause, not a hero
But I'll make it on my own
I've gotta prove them wrong
Me against the world
It's me against the world,"

Cassidy had bypassed breakfast and was now sitting with her side against the wall, resting her head against it. She kept opening her eyes to look around her every few minutes and then would close them again.

Let's hope everyone who comes by today can carry a tune, yes?

Cassidy hated Tuesdays. Tuesdays meant a specific visitor. Oh, she sometimes came on other days, but she always came on Tuesdays. It was like a bastardization of a ritual between them.

Elle came bouncing into the room, humming under her breath. She was quite possibly as crazy as some of detention's residents were, so of course she enjoyed the singing.

Electricity was already crackling along the backs of her hands as she approached.

When Cassidy saw her come through the doors, she couldn't help the whimper that passed through her lips.

Maybe if she curled up really small, Elle would think she wasn't here...

Of course dinner was cold. You can't expect warm food twice in one day!

Dinah managed to get through most of her dinner (ugh) before the singing bug grabbed her again at some point when she was looking at Sam.

And then she had to fight to keep her voice very low so no one would hear it, and not look anywhere.

If you're asking
I can't say no

Just one more chapter
Our book won't close
And I know it's madness
To play these odds
It's like giving matches
To paper, to paper dolls...

Well. Shit.

Sam was picking through his dinner, not particularly hungry, and snuck a glance over at Dinah to see if maybe she'd want what he didn't. When he saw her mouth moving, he smiled softly and went over to sit next to her. "Did you get hit with the singing thing?" he asked sympathetically.

Why hadn't she let Raven kill her before this? Really? Why?

"...yep." Dinah swallowed, trying to keep control of her jaw muscles and her mouth. "You haven't been?"

And almost under her breath:

Uh, tried sweet talk, tried dynamite
But I sleepwalk back to the battle site
Fight fire with fire but the fire won't fight
We just fly these circles like tired kites

At least that wasn't *too* revealing. Right? Right?
