Alex decided to go for a minestrone soup. He figured that even if it was bad, he could toss some salt, veggies and maybe even some chicken (if he got desperate) to keep the flavor. In other words, he didn't think he could mess this up that bad.

So, he got to work on that, making sure he didn't go overboard on anything.

Juliet made a grilled cheese sandwich.

She didn't burn it. The cheese melted acceptably. She put in some apple slices, which she hoped would get her marks for creativity.

In her head, this was all a major accomplishment.
