Wonder how exactly Rick got from talking about plots based around the perfect crime to a number of outlandish and downright slanderous theories about a well-known mystery writer who Rick is totally not a fanboy of.

"I read The Huge Nap, by Raymond Chandler, and I had a moment in the middle where I realized the ditzy girl's sister was totally covering for her screw-ups because she kept trying to throw the detective off track, onto stuff he wasn't even investigating. The movie version was different, though, they had a different person doing it, which kinda threw me again."
Reportedly, during filming the director had called Chandler in the middle of the script to ask who'd done it, and the writer had called him back with 'I don't know, you figure it out.'
