The list of roommate assignments was, but of course, located in a prime spot on one of the tables. Current students who had been assigned new rooms and/or roommates had been handwavily informed of the change.

The world was doomed if they used their powers for evil instead of good. Cyd decided that maybe he was from one of those smaller European countries that weren't even on the map anymore where things were very different. Or Tahiri was right all along and there were people who were from other worlds.

Ration could take a hike. The thought made her go 'eeeee' inside a little.

"Well," she said finally, defeating her battle against narrative so she could have a chance to speak, "if you do end up with anything that needs power I'm sure we can share."

"Of course," he agreed with a nod. "I do have a lot of books. You can have the outlets if I can have the shelves? And you're welcome to read them as well. If the subject interests, I mean."

"Of course!" she echoed. "I don't read as much as I used to," before getting addicted to a game, which wasn't familiar beyond the fourth wall at all, "but I used to read all the time. Books are great." Codex was pleased that they had a common interest. "The shelves are all yours. Oh, before I forget, I have a little fridge that I thought maybe we can use in the room. I mean, if you want to." She'd bought it online and had it delivered ahead of time. Caffeine was important.

"Sure, yeah," Jonas said, nodding. "I mean, I didn't bring anything to put in there but yeah, I don't mind. I'll ask before using it and make sure to clean up after myself, if something spills or makes a mess."

He didn't expect it to happen but he'd told Codex he wasn't a slob and he wanted to mean that in every sense of the word.

"I'm sure you'll be easier to room with than Gabe is," he said, going for a light joke to show his agreement. "And not just because he's three and you're...not."

She laughed, but there was still a touch of nervousness in it. "We'll soon find out. I, um, I should probably go and meet some people." And not freak out in the process. "But I'll see you up there. On the third floor. Room 321!"

"In room 321," he said, giving her a nod. "Good luck with...everything else. I'll see you later, I'm sure."

"See you later," she agreed, then scurried off into the crowd. It was going to be an interesting semester.

"Hey, you were on the shuttle," Clark remembered, happy that he could figure this out. "Looks like we're rooming together."

Hellooooo, nurse! Don't drool on your new roommate, Tony, that's just tacky. "Hi!" Tony said, trying to pretend he wasn't checking the guy out. "I'm Tony." In case the nametag hadn't made that clear. "I guess you're Clark." He probably knows that. "Welcome to Fandom. This is actually my second year here, so lemme know if you have questions."

"Oh, great! No point sticking the blind with the blind, I guess," Clark said, smiling happily at his good fortune to be paired with someone in the know.
