Men's fashions were harder to pinpoint than women's, but his style and manner of dress seemed familiar, even as his accent betrayed that he was not a fellow Brit.

But then, she always was terrible with geography.
She frowned, suddenly. "I will hope you do not think ill of me, that I no longer follow proper etiquette."
Truthfully, she had always been far too impertinent for etiquette, but sitting in class in a tee-shirt and denim trousers, while speaking with someone from her own time, felt oddly like she had been caught sneaking out a window by her parents.
