Biff gestured around the Danger Room. "Welcome to China," he said. Mountains could be seen all around them and it was definitely chillier than it had been in any of the other classes. "Today we begin our study of Buddhism, so you're going to need to change into these robes ( Read more... )

Bright orange robes and enormous poles. Rikku grinned in spite of herself. Not bad.

It wasn't being paralysed and painted blue. Karal was so grateful for that alone, he actually didn't mind this week's exercise in insanity.

Balance on poles! nojesusfreak February 19 2008, 06:48:33 UTC
After you've changed into your hugely attractive orange robes, balance on poles! Or wobble on poles, or tip over on poles, or try to get your fellow classmates to fall off of poles...

Or, you know, concentrate on being one with the all-that-ness.

The robes were fine. Not exactly what he was used to, but comfortable and in the Sunlord's colours. The poles were...not so fine.

Karal spent a few minutes contemplating one, breathing deeply in something that was almost meditation, then carefully eased up onto the pole. Riding had given him enough of a sense of balance that he actually managed it. Thank Vkandis.

He held very still and kept breathing deliberately slow and even, just as if he was meditating. It actually wasn't at all unpleasant.

As long as he didn't think about the hopping.

Romeo had just recently outgrown tripping over his feet on a regular basis; balance was not really his thing.

He hopped onto a pole, fell off, hopped up again, fell off almost immediately, sighed, hopped up again, crouched, tilted, wobbled .... and managed to stand upright.

He was grinning like an idiot about this feat.

Jump to the next pole! nojesusfreak February 19 2008, 06:49:20 UTC
He's left you up on that first one for most of the class, but now it's time to move! Everybody jump!

And fall, if that's what you're gonna do.

Jumping. Oh, Bright flame, why jumping?!

He tried, he really did. His foot even made it to the next pole, long enough to brush against it, and then he was landing in the dirt with a complete lack of surprise.

Thankfully, he knew how to fall, so at least he wasn't hurt.

Romeo was behind Karal; when the priest jumped, it was his time to jump as well.

He landed okay. It was the standing back up that he did too quickly, toppling him and the pole both into the dirt.

Reno stood at the top of the pole right behind them. And he laughed a bit at the pair before attempting his own jump.

It was a spectacular sort of misstep that led to him landing on the pole and then tripping right off of it again. Running, he was good at, jumping was great. Stopping, not so much.

Ow.

He was past irritation, was beyond boggling, had slipped past surprise.

Karal was simply resigned, and he plonked his chin on his hand and waited to see if any further madness would present itself today.
